I'm in the beta for a service in SF that uses the same food delivery model. I like the SMS-based approach (text messages pretty much have 100% open rates). Clever.
Been hearing about them from friends in Seattle.
Here's how it works:
Between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., Peachd sends a text message to members with a link for that day’s selected dish, which costs an average of $10. Customers have an hour to place an order by responding with a “yes” text, and their food will show up an hour later at a pre-determined office space.
Hey Everyone! I'm definitely joining this convo a bit late, but I'd love to answer any questions you may have about our company Peach.
Quick background... Peach is a revolutionary new lunch experience that utilizes SMS text based ordering. With a simple “YES” text response to a daily dish offer from local restaurants, lunch is delivered to your front desk. Lunches are always conveniently priced under $12.
Here's how it works… Once 15-20 users in your office create a peachd.com online account, we'll begin delivering. Users receive a daily SMS text at 10:05AM with a "Dish of the Day," sourced from the most popular local lunch spots in the city. When your order is placed before the 11:15AM cut-off time, food arrives at the front desk or lobby of your office between 12-12:30PM.
No Fees. No Tips. No Lines.
I believe in text! it is a good model, since thinking of what to have for lunch everyday after some time gets boring, it is also time consuming sometimes. The randomness and expecting something new everyday, makes it convenient while keeping it interesting.
