I *love* little tools that have huge potential. I've been watching Pastel since they first launched and am excited to hunt their latest update. Pastel 2.0, now works with your .png and .jpg mockups! Eager to see what the team comes up with next...
Aloke
Hi Product Hunt, Pastel co-founder here. A year ago, we debuted on Product Hunt and got an overwhelmingly positive response. Your incredible support helped us spread the word and focus on the right things to build. Pastel started with a simple idea: what if we could comment directly on websites and make design and development collaboration easier and faster? We’re happy to say we’ve been able to do just that for the thousands of people that found Pastel over the last year, with over 100,000 comments on projects they’re working on. With today’s launch, we add the ability to use Pastel earlier in your web design process, with feedback on PNG & JPG mockups and designs. Now, we can confidently say Pastel can be your one feedback tool when building websites, from mockup to the final product in the browser. With this, we hope we’ll be able to help even more teams communicate better on web projects. This community’s support means a lot to us. We would love to hear about your experience with Pastel and any ways you’d like to see us improve the product. Thank you! Aloke

I love simple tools like Pastel, it just works and gets the job done easily. Congrats on the v2 launch Aloke and team!

@fahdananta Thanks Fahd!
Nick Magnanini
Very nice! I love that simplicity! The only thing is that lots of similar tools have a free-forever account. Do you think it's not a good idea? I think it will better to put under ssl all the platform :)
Valentin Staykov
@nicolo_magnanini Thanks Nick! It's something we've thought about but still trying to figure out the best way to make a useful free account. And ssl on canvases is something we'll be adding in the near future :)

I like the idea though the UI needs to be a bit smoother. I also would be happy to be able to draw some arrows, etc. That's helpful when you're doing a review.

Pros:

Simple and fast. I like the idea. I'd use it

Cons:

There are some issues with the support of different languages. This may steal a lot of customers from you guys.

Mike Murchison
We used Pastel to launch the new Ada website. It had a big impact on our feedback collection cycle and ultimately the speed at which we were able to develop it. Thoughtfully designed product that just works. Congrats to the team!
Valentin Staykov
@mimurchison Thanks Mike! :)
Kris Aguero
Great tool for getting to the point feedback about specific areas on your project. We've been using it to send out for existing customers who want to make changes to their websites. I am pumped to test out the .jpg mock ups for showing new prospects my rough drafts.
Valentin Staykov
@krisaguero Thanks Kris! Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the new features :)

It's really awesome. I can see the hard work behind it. I was having the same idea and was working on it. And you guys did it so fluently. This looks awesome.
Valentin Staykov
@actuallyakash Thanks Akash!

I always took so many screenshots to covey the bug to my developer, not Pastel made everything easy

Pros:

Wow, this is what I am waiting for a long time, Great work team, love it

Cons:

Nothing

It's a good tool - use it!

Pros:

Big fan, used it a few times to help with client work.

Cons:

Basic, but IMHO that's helpful in this regard.

Michael Dantzie
love this feedback tool. Super easy to use, and the best thing is you can start for free if you only have one client to deal with.
Robleh Jama
Congrats guys! I love products that make it easier to give feedback 🎁
Valentin Staykov
@robjama Thanks Robleh! :)

I've been using Pastel for all my web projects and it's saved me hours of time!

Pros:

One place for all feedback - goodbye InVision.

Cons:

Not a con, but would love to see version history in the future.

Matt Crisp

We love this tool, its simple, easy to use and saves loads and loads of time.

Pros:

Great platform, simple to use, saves loads of time

Cons:

Your stupid clients will still call to talk about changes, pro is you can still use pastal...

Our team has been using Pastel for almost a year now. We even had the pleasure of meeting the crew in-person a few months ago! It's clear as day how serious they are about making Pastel into a highly usable, empowering tool for digital creatives and devs alike. Excited to see what comes next!

Pros:

Loving the new feature that facilitates feedback for imagery! As easy and intuitive to use as the OG canvases.

Cons:

Would love to see fleshed-out metadata and perhaps even version history for said new feature!

Brian Okarski
This product is great, seriously. Makes design feedback super easy from wires, to design, to giving feedback on prototypes and dev all along the way. I just really wish there was a ~$9.99/mo version for small studios / independent designers & developers – $49 is just way out of our price range for something comparable to Adobe CC. Something like 1 user, 5 clients (with client mentions), 5 *live* canvases (maybe ability to archive canvases), no time limit on comments, and no exporting to Trello, all could go a really long way for basic users.
Maks Tochinskiy

Our team has been using this for a website redesign and it saved hours going back and forth in terms of the feedback cycle.

Pros:

Really intuitive and huge upgrade over the product we were using previously (invision).

Cons:

Great so far!

Chase Giunta
Would clients count toward your users?
Valentin Staykov
@chasegiunta Nope, all plans come with unlimited client accounts. Users are able to create canvases and export comments, clients can view and comment on canvases. So you can feel free to share with as many people as you'd like to get feedback :)
Ariel
Cool, looks promising, but I miss free version. This is what works the best for me.
Valentin Staykov
@ariel_jedrzejczak Hi Ariel, that's definitely something we've thought about before. Would you like me to let you know whenever we have any updates on that front?
Valentin Staykov
@ariel_jedrzejczak Sounds good! Will let you know once we have more info on that :)
Donny Ouyang
I remember telling a friend who works in product about Pastel, and one of the first questions he had was around if image mockups were supported (as opposed to just websites/webpages). Super exciting that this is now part of the product!
Valentin Staykov
@donnyouyang Thanks Donny!
