Paste is a new way to copy and paste for your Mac. It keeps everything you've ever copied and lets you use your clipboard history anytime you need it across all your devices.

I've always wanted a clipboard manager but found other solutions to be clumsy. This is elegant and perfectly done. With the Direct Paste Helper, it gets turned to 11. Nice one.

@joshuapinter Thanks! And Happy Pasting! :)

I set clipboard history to unlimited and can quickly search/find old code snippets. If I ever need to remember something, I just copy it then can find it later.

I've used a quite a few of these and Paste is by far my favorite.

Pros:

Best UI for a clipboard manager. Use it MANY times a day

Cons:

It occasionally doesn't start when I restart my laptop, so I have to start it manually.

And don't forget to download Paste Helper at http://pasteapp.me/sandbox-helper, it makes Paste much-much better ;)

@stel2k what's the difference then? why don't you include all the functionality in one product?
ben Watanabe
@dglbr @stel2k I'm guessing it's probably due to sandbox requirements and the added functionality wouldn't meet App Store review requirements. edit: Just saw this on their site "The apps in Mac App Store must be "sandboxed", it means they can't communicate with other apps so there is no way to implement the Direct Paste feature in App Store version of Paste. We have introduced an optional Helper application which makes Direct Paste work…"
Dmitry Obukhov
Thanks @benwtnb! @dglbr unfortunately it's the only allowed way to make Direct Paste works in sandboxed environment.

@benwtnb @dglbr @stel2k But if you download directly from your site, there's no need for this, right?
Dmitry Obukhov
@shimmb Correct, the version from the website includes the Helper internally.

I rarely shell out money for any kind of software, but while there are great free alternatives (e.g. Flycut), I haven't seen anything close to the performance / usability / UI in Paste. For $10, great deal.

Pros:

Slick Apple-style UI, useful features, smooth performance, pinboards, search, attentiveness to UX

Cons:

The window is a bit larger than necessary; a lot of space is given to show the source app of the copied item; usually not important

Hi there! Paste was started as an UI experiment, I wanted to make a "different" UI for a desktop app that doesn't use any private API and is valid for Mac App Store. After some prototypes I decided to make a clipboard manager – the app that stores everything you've ever copied and allows you to use your copy-history anytime you need it. I think such kind of apps must be tightly integrated into the system, so Paste looks and feels as a part of the OS X with native animations and fullscreen user experience. I have a lot of ideas to make it even better, so feel free to leave a suggestion or any other feedback! UPD: Please check out Paste 2 at https://www.producthunt.com/post... ;)

I use an Alfred power pack feature to keep one month of my copy history. It doesn't do images but it's easily searchable and already part of an app I use everyday. I'll give this a spin though :)
Dmitry Obukhov
@bracco Try search in Paste – just start typing! You can use search as a filters too, for example "Safari Text foobar" will find all texts copied from Safari that contain "foobar". "Images", "Files" and "Links" are also supported.

Great and really enjoy the auditory feedback on a copy so far! Sometimes certain apps like Preview don't seem to copy on my first try sometimes, this will keep me from making unnecessary switches between apps when not necessary. You did a real great job with your goal of making Paste feel like it is a native part of the system! Something that is much more difficult than it seems in my experience making a menubar app. Congrats :)
Dmitry Obukhov
@benwtnb Thank you!

I've been using Jumpcut for years, it's ingrained into my muscle memory. I would love to buy and try this out, but I can't purchase from the App Store (long story…) Is there a non-App Store version that I can buy?
Dmitry Obukhov
@draganbabic Unfortunately no :( There is only Mac App Store version now

This is great! Currently I use CopyClip, a simple free copy manager without support for images, link, etc etc. Paste looks like the best all around solution! Have to give this one a try!
dennis hegstad
looks great! i find myself always needing a place to temporarily hold links while jumping around tabs, etc - excited to test it out.

Got access to the beta earlier to day, and from just one days use, I can already say this is something I'll be using a lot. Dropping clipped images in to Slack, Sketch, Photoshop is a breeze, and the ability to copy and past as plain text is something that I don't want to live with out. Thanks for the beta access and thanks for the tool!
Dmitry Obukhov
@atherkildsen pleased to hear that, thanks!
Dmitry Obukhov
Thanks again for your feedback, guys! I've just zeroed my inbox and want to share some usefull tips for Paste. 1. Paste as plain text! Press Cmd+Return on selected text item or use a context menu to paste it without any text-styles. You can also turn "Strip formatted text styles" on in Preferences to not to copy text styles at all. 2. Search! Just start typing and search bar will apear. Press TAB or Return key to navigate to search result. And use arrow keys to navigate throuth them. 3. Filter! You can use search bar as a filter, type "Safari" to get all your clipbard history from Safari. "Safari Text foobar" for all texts copient from Safari which contain "foobar". Try different combinations, "Image", "File" and "Link" are also supported. 4. Use Direct Paste! It is very handy, enable it in Preferences or download a Paste Helper at http://pasteapp.me/sandbox-helper. 5. And don't forget to share your "clips" with friends via context menu on an item ;)
Joe Boutros
@stel2k What exactly is "Direct Paste" ?
Dmitry Obukhov
@contextjunkie Direct Paste allows you not only copy a selected history item to clipboard again, but also to insert it directly to an app you currently work with.

I like this app, It's better than other clipboard managers. If you're looking for free alternatives, I've been using these for long: - http://jumpcut.sourceforge.net/ - https://github.com/TermiT/Flycut (Open-Source)
Joe Boutros
Looks great! I wonder how it compares to Clipboard History? https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/...

And where have you been all my life?? I didn't even think twice! What would make it even cuter (and also more functional!) is if you show previews of links: webpages, YouTube videos, photo URLs, etc. But hey, it's very awesome as it is 👌
Dmitry Obukhov
@mariepoopins Thanks! Working on that, sign up to our new beta at http://pasteapp.me/beta ;)

I rarely purchase apps for my mac (I'm almost always disappointed) I just bought this and it works wonderfully! Great work!
Dmitry Obukhov
Many-many thanks for your support and feedback! Yesterday it was a great launch on Product Hunt and on a local Product Hunt Meetup in Moscow (and awesome afterparty :))! So now it's the time to look at my inbox and analyze everything that happened. I'll try to answer all of your questions!
Dmitry Obukhov
I think I forgot to share one great news here – Paste 2 was released: https://www.producthunt.com/tech... ;)
Jeffrey Rosen
Awesome! I just upgraded from iClip. I have two concerns though: a) Can you add an option to hide the menubar icon? That is super prime real estate on my MacBook and given the keyboard shortcut, I can't imagine myself ever needing to click on it up there. b) It's super slow! When I "Show Paste" it pauses for a good 1 second before starting the slide in animation. Is that a known limitation?
Dmitry Obukhov
@jeffrey_rosen Thanks! a) Already on the roadmap and will be available in next release ;) b) Unfortunately sometimes there can be a delay on Retina Macbooks, I'll investigate this case, for now the only solution is restart you Mac :( After restarting there should not be a delay.

Fit very good for developers daily usage.

Pros:

Great tool, smooth experience, very stable

Cons:

No cons
