So, if each device has a constantly running wifi chip, I suppose it makes sense to be used mainly for the most power consuming "phantom" devices? Any idea what the cost efficiency of those wifi spots is? I have that vision of wifi being energy expansive, but that may be due to having wifi consuming most of battery energy on smartphones (still, it's a preconception marketing would have to deal with).
