Wow, so much usefulness for free! Great product. Considering to become a farmer πŸ™ƒ Guys, where do I start?
Slava Mazai
@alexander_nevedovsky I think you can start by choosing the field where you want to start your farm :) like this https://map.onesoil.ai/2018/gb/e...
Veronika Lindorenko
Hey @alexander_nevedovsky, Thanks for your kind words! We tried to do our best. Becoming a farmer is a nice idea ;) Now you have everything to start your farming business! To do it, please follow this link: https://app.onesoil.ai. It's our web app where you can monitor fields, check the weather for them, calculate the precise amount of fertilizers necessary for your field zones, and also add notes about problem zones. We also have an easy-to-use Android app: https://play.google.com/store/ap..., it's better for scouting fields. Feel free to ask any questions here. Here's our blog where you can find more information about OneSoil team and our apps: http://blog.onesoil.ai

Hi Chris πŸ‘‹, Thank you for hunting OneSoil Map! I'm Sasha, head of product and co-founder. At OneSoil, we develop a free-for-all precision farming platform that allows farmers making their businesses more sustainable and smart. OneSoil Map brings insights about local and global trends in crop production. It helps to predict market performance in the US and EU at all levels and fosters smart decision making. One can zoom in to a single field and zoom out to country level to explore and compare fields and crops. And we're not stopping here. OneSoil map will present data on South America and Australia in 2019. It took us 3 years to collect all these valuable data and 6 months to create this map. Now we have around 60 million fields and more than 20 types of crops detected. If one person had to do it manually, it would take around 90 years. Our map has been built with @mapbox GL JS (@ericg 🀘), a JavaScript library that uses WebGL to render interactive maps from vector tiles and Mapbox styles. The map has also a light mobile version so that anyone has access to it anywhere they are. Let us know what you think! We'd appreciate your feedback & support. A very special shout-out goes to our team @mazai @alexanderkalinovsky @ivan_uvarov @veronika_lindorenko

This is very cool, how did you get such accurate geometry for the fields? was that machine learning based on Satellite imagery? I made this Trade-War Global Index Map as a class project. I'd like to put in more granular detail on key commodities... https://jonahbrennan.github.io/t... @mapbox @ericg @mazai @alexanderkalinovsky @ivan_uvarov @veronika_lindorenko @sasha_yakovlev

It looks very useful for farmers! I think with this map whole farm industry will get new inspiration and opportunities! Guys, you are helping to make a great step for humanity.
Alexander Kalinovsky
@new_user_80c1dc03e8 Thanks for kind words, Pavel! We hope this will contribute to the development of AgTech sector and the growth of its popularity among various farmers all over the world. πŸŒΎπŸ‘
Klim Khaletski
Hi, looks really useful (and beautiful, btw). Do you plan to add Russia next year?
Alexander Kalinovsky
@klim_khaletski Thank you! And yes, we're planning on launching in North America and some other big countries like India and Russia in 2019. πŸ‘
Anya Pozniak

I hope there will be more countries and data available soon. I can see this map being very valuable source of information for all agriculture sector players.

Pros:

It's very easy to navigate through data and countries.

Cons:

I couldn't really find any.

Veronika Lindorenko
Hey @anya_pozniak, we're glad you could easily understand the app functionality. That's what we expected from our map πŸ˜ƒ Yeah, OneSoil Map reveals new insights about local and global trends in crop production. Everyone can use it for free. We're going to open the map for other countries next year. Stay tuned πŸ™Œ

@jukefr Thanks a lot, Kevin!
Dmitrij Kurilo
Great team and execution! Love playing with the map.
Alexander Kalinovsky
@dmitry_kurilo Thanks, Dmitry, great to hear! Same for us, all of the team also had a great time with it 😁
Usevalad Henin

All field in Europe and USA it is really cool. I spend few hour looking on fields

Pros:

Free, quickly, beautiful

Cons:

I can't find

Veronika Lindorenko
Hi @usevalad_henin, Thank you for a good review! Have you seen our collection of random beautiful maps?
Victor Aksionov
This is actually amazing. The amount of work put into it is astonishing! Fields do look great and model seem solid. And all that functionality is also free? Very impressive. Wishing all the best of luck to you guys!
Alexander Kalinovsky
@victor_aksionov Thanks a lot, Victor! Yes, OneSoil is completely free πŸ™Œ
Debarati Ghosh
It is a very good knowledge oriented App for farmers. But I have one request to the makers consider the Asia continent also. It is a world largest content and more than 85% are farmers.
Alexander Kalinovsky
@debarati_ghosh Thank you for liking OneSoil, Debarati! As our precision farming platform works only in Europe and the US right now, that were the regions we could show. But we're not stopping there. In 2019 we're panning to launch in the whole North America and some other big countries like India and Russia. You can see the next stages of the map here: https://onesoil.ai/en/technologies πŸ˜ƒ
Maryna
Fantastic project!! Do you have some real-time maps?
Alexander Kalinovsky
@marina_marynad Hello, Maryna! Thanks a lot! You can check out our web application https://app.onesoil.ai, we get all the data about fields from satellite images.
Anastasiya Bardunova

Fantastic! I want wallpaper on iPhone with your maps

@dmitrii_pimanchev Here it is! πŸ˜‰
Dmitry Ovod-Marchuk
Congratulations, guys! Another brilliant project from Belarus! I got two questions: 1. What value does a farmer get using your service? How do you help? 2. How can a farmer start working with you? What special hardware or equipment is needed?
Alexander Kalinovsky
@dmitry_ovod_marchuk Thank you for the support, Dmitry! This map helps farmers, advisers, researchers, students and curious minds getting agricultural insights in Europe and the US. It's more of an illustration of agriculture with statistics than a practical tool to help farmers. We have https://app.onesoil.ai for that :) As for your other question, to start working with us a farmer should either download OneSoil Scouting mobile app or register on the web platform (https://app.onesoil.ai). Then, they find their fields there and start their journey of precision farming!
Sasha Yakovlev
@dmitry_ovod_marchuk Hey, Dmitry! Good questions :) First. This map is the first in the world visualization of all fields in EU and US. It's not for farmers but for those people who like awesome earth beauty. :) It's kind of demonstration of our powerful field prediction models. Second. For farmers we have another product. You can read about it here - https://onesoil.ai. There is no need in hw devices or something to start.
Veronika Lindorenko
@dmitry_ovod_marchuk There is no need to use any special hardware to get the insights about a field. We use the satellite imagery and machine learning algorithms to provide farmers with informed actions. We have also OneSoil sensors to collect data from the fields. Here you can find more info: https://blog.onesoil.ai/en/how-o...

This is a really unique service. I can easily see its usefulness for farmers as well as for broader audience. I will definitely be watching this product closely. Good luck guys!

Pros:

Smooth and friendly interface, tons of really unique and valuable data, free of charge

Cons:

Haven’t really found any. Maybe only the fact that some of fields near my place are misclassified, but I’m sure the team will improve on that

Veronika Lindorenko
Hi @mishao That's nice that you enjoyed using our app. Our team made a lot of efforts to make it as it is. We're sorry for the issues you faced. Could you please provide your coordinates so that we can fix it ASAP? Our aim is to help farmers do their best! πŸ‘¨β€πŸŒΎ Thanks for your feedback! Stay tuned for OneSoil updates with our blog: http://blog.onesoil.ai

Heili Strite
Hi team :) I saw your request for feedback in the PM Slack group. As I worked in an agritech startup before, I'll share some of my thoughts. One of the biggest challenges we faced was implementation and UX. Precision farming is a big trend but for most farmers it's still a very distant thing. You have a great opportunity here to take it to the farmers and here's a couple ways I would do it. First, localise the language. Second, think of integration opportunities. If you think about integrations with smart farm management tools like Agrivi or eAgronom then your users would have the option to get the context with the score. They will be struggling to decide what to do without the context for sure. Most farmers I have met in the EU get soil samples taken because the government forces them to but majority does not use them to make decisions on a day to day basis. I hope this helps :)
Veronika Lindorenko
Hi @heili_strite Thanks for your comment! Yeah, UX should be very simple and intuitive. We tried to make our products: a mobile (https://play.google.com/store/ap...) and web app (https://app.onesoil.ai) easy-to-use but still have many questions from farmers' side. We'd like to thank you for these amazing pieces of advice! Localisation is done for some languages but still there is a space for improvements. We haven't thought of integrations in a profound way but we'll after your words. I hope that we'll make a kind of agricultural revolution in Europe and the U.S. soon
Veronika Lindorenko
@heili_strite What is the name of the startup you worked in?

Wow this is really cool. not sure I have the energy to become a farmer though. Tough work!
Sasha Yakovlev
Thanks @productpearson! I am glad you liked the project we've launched today. Yeah, being a farmer is not as easy as pie but the world won't survive without farming. Therefore, we try to help them do their best.
Alexander Chekan

BEautiful design as well. Great example of big data visualization.

Pros:

Looks like it can be really helpful in agricultural field and definitely fulfills the task of making more people interested in agriculture

Cons:

Can't think of any off the top of my head
