Hi, really cool extension. I loved it. But I'm using ProductHunt extension as my new tab page and I'm don't think changing it to Omni's page. If I disable Omni as new tab Chrome automatically disable extension and I can't use extension (and alt+k shortcut). Can you offer a option to set as new tab page or not? Thanks
This looks cool!
How do I search only open tabs or only my bookmarks or only my history? I don't see a way to filter my search.
Also, can I search within web pages? Say I don't remember the page title but I remember it talked about say "cost", will it find that too?
@mayank_jain3 Well Omni does not provide a way to search search only tabs or history. It is implemented in a "don't make me think" mentality and this won't change. In most cases what you're looking for should be in the first three results, that's our goal.
Tefter does offer full-text search so, pressing `t` followed by tab on Chrome or space on Firefox will display results from your bookmarks matching their content.
@dimitrios_zorbas I haven't felt that yet that the search results are relevant to me.
Also it's confusing as some results are from history/bookmarks I can't tell.
It would be great if you distinguish it with icons and let me filter.
I tend to have over thousands of bookmarks and I am not able to find that particular tab or bookmark. I have to type a lot to get the right page.
Will try further. Cheers!
Hey π
I'm Dimi, one of the makers of Omni.
Omni is the new browser extension from Tefter that lets you search and navigate your open tabs, history and Tefter bookmarks. It also automatically groups together similar links.
This extension is ideal for people who have too many tabs open. Most times I have so many tabs open that titles are not even visible. Omni is built for the lazy. Its algorithm analyzes your history, tabs and bookmarks and keeps learning the more you use it. All your data stays local and is optimally indexed.
Our goal is that you won't have to lift your hands off the keyboard and any tab will be only a few keypresses away. Omni will be the fastest tab switcher you've ever experienced, your personalized search and navigation companion.
Pro tips:
- Use alt + k or option + k on MacOS to start searching
- Use the tab key to move between groups
- Installing Omni does not require a Tefter account
- If you have a Tefter account, right click any link or click the extension icon to add a bookmark
- Omni replaces the browser's default new tab page, you can disable this by following the instructions π https://guides.tefter.io/feature...
- Type /s to trigger 3rd party search {Google, DuckDuckGo, YouTube, ..}
We'd love to get some feedback and I'd be happy to answer any questions!
Tefter and Omni have helped me a great deal with organizing my workload, as well as to keep track and navigate through my browsing history. Moreover, through Tefter, I can always find stuff I once saw on the Internet, which I would have otherwise lost (if for example the link no longer exists). This way, I've grown able to implement an order upon the chaotic nature of internet browsing. As a result, I seem to come up with new ideas all the time, since Tefter offers a sustainable and safe environment for me to work in.
Therefore, it would be no overstatement to say that Tefter and Omni have helped change my life to the better. I recommend them to everyone without a second thought.
@marios_k Thank you Marios!
Omni demonstrates our effort to truly make users more productive. Bookmarking is one thing, but the chaotic nature of internet browsing you are mentioning is something we believe we can tame in the long run. We're taking small steps and feedback is super important to us. This is the first major release of Omni and there are some rough edges. For example, in the next release, setting up Omni as your default new tab page will be optional.
