Hey Hunters!
Have you ever found yourself checking a website every couple of minutes just to see if there were any changes? Price, availability, description, ...
If so, here's a tool for you: You can register a web page, select an element within the page, and let obzrv.it monitor the content for you!
You will receive an email once a change is detected. You can also see changes history.
It's fast, easy to use and free.
The service just started and we're curious to hear your feedback!
@daktyl_ it's not open source, however perhaps it would be one day. For now, it's just free :)
It's written in Go, uses goroutines and some clever code optimizations to allow for monitoring of thousands of pages simultaneously, on any (cheap!) device
@ral_oz this is currently not possible. Theoretically, we could implement such a feature, if we see it useful. For now, I have following concerns:
- Facebook posts and comments are not publicly visible - typically you need to be logged in to read posts
- this means we'd need to log our service in to FB, ideally with user's account, to be able to "see" the same posts they can see (posts can have limited visibility) - means storing their credentials: this gets complicated
- finally, Facebook can ban us anytime for sending too many requests and checking posts too frequently - after all, they provide their own notifications, hence we'd kind of compete with FB, with little hope since it's not us who control the platform :)
