Back in February, my co-founder Hendrik-Jan and I set out to build a platform to empower team members to reflect on their relationship with work, and make their voices heard as a team in a safe, anonymous way when something doesn't fit. Four months down the line, and we've just recently shipped the first version of Noon: our vision of a workplace well-being analytics platform that puts the privacy of team members first, providing a safe space for them to be really honest about how things are going in their work-lives. By integrating with Slack, Noon sends just one question per day to each team member, building up a picture of how the team is doing across 6 key areas of work-life. Based on this data, we bring you a personal dashboard (private only to you) for your own use, and team-level dashboards, showing how the team as a whole is doing. One goal we had from the day we started building is that all this data should be actionable. It's already possible to anonymously gauge how your teammates feel about different aspects of work-life via check-ins, and access our knowledgebase which contains a library of "hacks" for teams to use to build a better relationship with work. It's a start, but we're working hard on bringing even more actionability to the platform. Stay tuned!

Kudos on the launch! The product has a very polished, professional look and feel.
Saul Johnson
@emmawhite65 Thank you Emma, great to know we hit the mark there! Keeping the UI clean and usable (and therefore welcoming) was part of the mission out of the gate, super happy you feel that it paid off! We're trying to walk a pretty fine line between surfacing all the insights you might want to see on the dashboards and cluttering the UI too much. Please let us know if there's anything in particular you'd like to see on the dashboards that isn't there already!

Amazing tool, I would recommend this to everyone! I think a lot of founders are not aware of the importance of using this kind of tool within their company.
Saul Johnson
@sebasr8 Thank you so much Sebastiaan, we couldn't agree more. Empowering a new and evolving team to build a great relationship with work starts with the founders, and everyone wins when folks are happy and thriving!

This product has exceeded my expectations in every way. It's a true game-changer.

@daniel_alagba Thank you so much Daniel, it means a lot to hear you like it!

I've been a fan of a similar solution called Erudit for a while now. Really like the visuals, and the idea is spot on. But as someone who's also been studying the HR market for a while now, I'm not really keen on someone reading our messages (I know they're probably encrypted and anonymous, but still!)
Saul Johnson
@alvarovillalb_ Hey! Thank you so much for the feedback, and for drawing the comparison to Erudit. Super curious to know what the #1 selling point of Erudit is to you right now. Is it the AI aspect, reporting, actionability they offer that does it for you? You’ll also be relieved to hear that Noon doesn’t read your messages (we don’t even ask for those permissions on Slack). While using AI to extract well-being insights from messages is something we obviously weighed up, we ultimately felt that reading your Slack message would run counter to our privacy-first ethos. Do you think we made the right call here?
Alvaro Villalba Perez
@sauljohnson I think that Erudit's selling point is "discover toxicity when it's hidden" because it goes so deep into what employees are talking about. It can be good for really big companies which culture has not always been great (the most toxic businesses). When well-being isn't achieved, we think the best way to discover a toxic environment is to establish the right communication channels so that people feel safe telling those worries or fears. I think your call is the winning one, but you might have to educate employees on opening up to employers (most do by now, specially new generations).

🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations on the launch of Noon, it's amazing to see how much progress you've made in just four months! 🚀🚀🚀I'm truly blown away by how you've managed to set the privacy of team members as a top priority while delivering a platform that empowers everyone to reflect on their relationship with work. 😍😍😍 I'd love to know more about how Noon can be used to support remote teams in particular. 🤔🤔🤔 Are there any specific features or use cases that you've found to be particularly helpful for teams that are geographically dispersed? And how do you think Noon can help build a stronger sense of community among remote workers? 🌎🌍🌏 Keep up the fantastic work - I can't wait to see what the future holds for Noon! 💪💪💪
Saul Johnson
@gabriel_nori Thank you so much for the kind words and such a great question! 😊 One feature of Noon we see as particularly valuable for remote teams is check-ins, which can really go a long way in addressing the “is it just me?” feeling that remote workers in particular can struggle with when they’re unhappy with something at work. For example, if you feel overworked, you can quickly send out a two-question check-in to each of your team members to see how they feel. Results are anonymous, of course, and can really help to start conversations around making things more manageable.

I find the science-based and data-driven approach to assessing mental health at work very interesting! Congratulations on the launch 🚀
Saul Johnson
@tam_le11 Thank you so much! We’re doubling down on the scientific approach for sure, both because we feel it brings a ton of credibility and value and just because it’s super interesting. Great to hear we made the right call here!
Simran
Yes!! Especially when it comes to startups - anything with long hours where boundaries are likely to get blurred.
Saul Johnson
@simran_handa_sequin Absolutely! I think any remote worker can relate to this. Thank you so much Simran!

As an HR professional, it's the product we needed. Seeing employees struggle with their mental health in a fast-paced and hybrid world is hard. It's become more and more challenging to support their well-being, Noon provides clarity on the real issues we need to tackle while providing them a safe space to reflect on they're really doing.
Saul Johnson
@christian_tran1 Awesome, thank you so much! The way work changed over the course of the pandemic was one of the catalysts that ultimately made Noon happen. As we grow and mature the product (particularly with even more actionability features from right within the platform) I’m hoping you see even more of an impact.
Nick Barth
Congratulations on the launch! It looks promising and has great design work. As it is well-known that administrators in Slack have access to all messages sent in their team, how do you plan on assuring users that their answers remain anonymous? A single breach of trust would destroy the value of anonymous feedback. Perhaps instead of using slack messages, you could send a link to a noon hosted feedback site so it could clear any doubts of nosy bosses. The platform's value relies on administrators making correct decisions based on feedback. Are you supporting them in any way to increase team productivity? If so, please include it on your marketing website, as I was unable to understand the "actionable outcome" part of your formula.
Saul Johnson
@nick_barth Thank you Nick, both for the great feedback on the design and promise of the platform and for asking two really fantastic questions about privacy and actionability. Regarding privacy, you're absolutely right that under certain circumstances it is possible for Slack administrators to obtain access to DMs sent within their workspace. From our own research this is straightforward enough on Slack Enterprise plans, but on the Slack managed plans (Free, Standard and Pro) this needs to be done by contacting Slack themselves with proof that the employee(s) concerned have given their consent to access their DMs. This measure exists, I assume, for legal/regulatory/compliance reasons. Using this avenue, while it may be possible for a sufficiently motivated Slack administrator to access a person's DMs with Noon, it is never possible to access their individual dashboard or worklife area scores, which reside on Noon itself and are not transmitted via Slack. Your suggestion of an off-Slack alternative to providing answers to questions is super interesting and something we'll look into, thank you again! Regarding actionability, this is something we're taking our time to get right. While it's possible for team members to initiate check-ins (mentioned here: https://www.producthunt.com/post...) and access our library of "hacks" to implement to boost their scores, we're actively building more ways to initiate actions within the platform based on the data, including making insights deeper (right to the individual question level) and triggering measures to help a team member assess their risk of burnout if their energy level begins to get low. Once these are ready to debut, we'll make sure we put them front and centre on our website and marketing materials!
