NeevaAI is real-time AI search. Get authoritative answers, always with cited sources — powered by Neeva’s own LLMs and search stack — for a transformative search experience.
Hi everyone, I'm the Head of Machine Learning at Neeva, and I'm excited to launch NeevaAI. NeevaAI allows users to get a single coherent answer to their queries while also showing citation cards (in a delightful UX!) that allow users to examine the source of information. We believe the ability to show the sources is table stakes for a search engine.
The technical idea behind NeevaAI is to combine the retrieval power of search engines with the generative power of LLMs. This line of work is called Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and I am proud to be a part of the team that is one of the first ones to productize this.
In the coming months, we expect to make the product smarter and faster. We are releasing products at the bleeding edge of NLP research, which is both exciting and challenging at the same time. We look forward to you hearing your feedback.
Thank you for your support! 🙏
Hi PH folks! This is Sridhar, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to tell you more about NeevaAI.
NeevaAI combines the best of the web with the power of AI, but the best way to sum it up is probably this:
If you’re used to seeing a wall of blue links – NeevaAI gives you one fluent answer.
If you’re getting fluent answers (on ChatGPT or elsewhere) but need to trust the results — NeevaAI results are backed up by real data and citations.
As Chris mentions, we were the first company to launch these quick AI answers backed by actual data — but we’re not sitting back! This morning we launched citation cards. Click on a sentence in our summaries, you’ll see a card on the right with additional details, allowing you to fact-check the AI in a user-first experience and choose where you want to dive deeper.
We’re able to innovate and move fast because we’re a startup and subscription-based — our only motivation is to create a better search experience for you and our customers.
We are thrilled to share NeevaAI with all of you and promise to keep innovating on what search can do for people.
Neeva team, I am proud of what we have able to do to get here. With a team of 50, we have been able to launch at scale, a search paradigm that completely changes the game for a product used daily by billions! Congratulations!!
Thanks for the comments and support today!
Says I need an account to try a search. For a search engine? How does one search in incognito mode?
Why would I use this instead of free options that do not need an account and already do this like Perplexity, Phind, You or the product of the day here yesterday Andi?
@dan_e_boy RIGHT! I felt that way when I signed up but decided to try it out anyway.
You can do incognito searches without an account, but the new AI feature is tied to a sign up through typical accounts or by email - which don't have to be one you use (don't we all have a spam email address?).
The AI answers are something I hadn't experienced before theirs came out. There's room to improve here, and Neeva has shown me they keep getting better over the last couple years I've been using it.
I will say of the alternatives you mention, Perplexity does a good job, but it's more of an AI answer machine to a single inquiry. YET, Neeva surfaces AI insight, plus typical search results for directions. Neeva also provides a full page of information that can be prioritized by preferred sources (and deprioritize the likes of ones you don't favor). Neeva could improve with searches for best prices - but there's so many browser extensions and sites to double check that it hasn't been a deal breaker for me.
@dan_e_boy It works in incognito mode. In my opinion, this is where Neeva has some unique value. Perplexity, Phind, and You seem like Bing API wrappers that summarize the top N results. It appears that Neeva is building its own index [0]. One of the main reasons this is important is that no matter what type of generative AI you apply on top of an existing index, the answers will be mediocre. Both G and B are plagued with SEO/commercial spam, so building your own index has the possibility of providing better answers.
Building your own index is hard. I am not sure how you wrote your comment, but it kind of looks rude (I apologize if it is not)

@dan_e_boy I am on the co-founders at Neeva.
We put an account requirement here because running AI is very, very expensive and we wanted a degree of protection from scrapers / scammers.
By default, we keep no history, no ip addresses, nothing.
@dan_e_boy@vignestion
We crawl, index, serve and run our own language models. Yep, doing that with a 50 person team is really, really hard, but we are proud to have created a world leading experience.
Thank you for your support!
Neeva is absolutely brilliant. No ads, customized news feeds, saved searches, calendar integration, and the search results just keep getting better.
I've been in the search marketing field for 25 years, I am an author, adjunct professor, and consultant. Based on my experience with Neeva so far, I can honestly say that they are pioneering the future of search and building a platform made for users not advertisers.
I'm excited to use Neeva and even more excited to watch the journey from infancy to the leading search engine online.
@seosteve comments like this make our day! Building a search engine is a hard, scary problem. Especially going up against a verb and an entrenched monopoly.
But that is the point of startups, right?
We feel grateful to be here and thank you for the trust and confidence you place in us!
@5harath We are continuously tuning how we do summaries. If you send feedback, the query/summary will make its way to an eval set that we tune against!
We are also releasing a community tool where users can suggest changes to the summary. Coming soon!
Thank you for your support!
@sridhar_ramaswamy1@5harath Launching the new community tool is going to be an absolute game changer; can't wait for that, and glad you think it's a clever move!
Neeva's become my default search engine since you rolled NeevaAI out -- I'm loving the synopses at the top of (a higher and higher percentage every day) my searches.
thank you @packym ! We are hovering around 50% right now. We have a set of clustering techniques to deal with ambiguous queries (including multiple people with the same name) and think we can push the coverage up to 75% in a few weeks. We live in exciting times!
@packym The power of default! Thanks for using our product. Will continuously improve user experience of it. We are excited about future of search engine.
NeevaAI is a complete game changer. In addition to Neeva’s continually improving search engine that has really improved significantly over the last year I’ve been using it exclusively, NeevaAI now adds a completely new layer into the mix. The search experience has changed for the better and gets down to what I’m looking for specifically, every single time. Kudos to the Neeva team!
It is actually surprising how similar the current search experience in 2023 is to what it was in 2003 compared to how much other products and services have evolved during the same period.
As a UX designer who worked on search products for many years, I can feel that there is a real chance to make meaningful changes to the search experience, today, finally.
Imagine a search engine that not just gives you the web pages based on popularity, but has the intelligence to understand their content and distill only what you asked for while ensuring freshness and trustworthiness of the information. Imagine a search engine that is not designed for advertisers, but only for users.
Helping to make Neeva AI and the process of it gave me a strong confidence that our team is uniquely positioned to realize the imagination of new search engines. This launch is a great example of our team’s foresights, dedication, and speed of execution.
Really proud to be part of this journey and the journey has just begun.
Please try this and share with us your thoughts! Thank you for your support 🙏
@jiwoong_lee ^ Now it's THE time to re-imagine and re-shape the search. So inspiring to see @jiwoong_lee and team design, build, and ship the amazing NeevaAI!
Thank you, @chrismessina ...
Hey everyone, I’m Vivek, co-founder at Neeva, and excited to tell you more about NeevaAI, a new way to search with the applied power of large language models.
NeevaAI combines our in-house search index and large language models to generate exactly one answer to your query. We’re proud to do this with citations, solving one of the biggest problems with AI answers. Because we crawl the web at scale, we’re able to provide authoritative AI answers to events, even as they unfold around the world.
With the help of our awesome community, we’re continuing to innovate. Today, we’re rolling out citation cards. Citation cards enhance NeevaAI answers you get with summaries of the pages the citations were sourced from. Over the next few weeks, NeevaAI will only get faster, smarter, and more efficient as we get ready to launch in the UK, Canada, France, and Germany.
One thing we hear a lot: once you search with NeevaAI, it’s impossible to imagine going back to legacy search result pages filled with blue links.
Thanks for helping us launch NeevaAI today!
@chrismessina@vivek_raghunathan1 NeevaAI is getting better everyday, hum, actually, every hour!!! Now, make it every minute. I <3 NeevaAI. Thanks Vivek, and team!
Howdy Hunters! I’m an engineer here working on NeevaAI, and I’m very excited to present it on Product Hunt today :)
Around the middle to end of last year, we started tinkering with what we could do with large language models + search. We had used similar models for result ranking before, but were most curious about how we could innovate at the presentation layer, especially with recent advances in text generation. We all agreed that one of the most tedious aspects of the current state of web search was having to wade through all the information (“blue links'') that a search results page can present for a given query. Even with great ranking, there’s still a significant cognitive load associated with finding one’s answer within the top results; it was from this obstacle that NeevaAI was born.
Once we had the initial prototype running, it was pretty clear to me that having distilled answers like the ones NeevAI provides could be a significant advance in the way we discover and consume information. What didn’t quite make sense to me initially however (in hindsight, shockingly) was having in-text citations to the results that the answer was drawn from. It felt clunky and like it disrupted the reading experience.
Now, I think it might be the most important feature.
Not only do citations give you the ability to deep dive into any particular aspect of the answer, but it also provides an easy avenue to explainability of the answer (where/who did this information come from) and helps to build trust in the system. Much like we had to show why 63 ÷ 9 = 7 in fourth grade, we want NeevaAI to show proof of work for how it knows that a jalapeño is spicier than a poblano pepper (by up to 8x!) or that Frank Ocean is headlining Coachella this year 🤞.
Please give it a whirl and let us know what you think! We’ve had a lot of fun building it and truly hope it's a delightful experience.

It will be nearly a year since I have been using Neeva as a paid member.Amazing search experience, especially Neeva's Exactly One Answer saves me a bunch of time by summarizing the information I am looking for from different websites. It also annotates from which website it is sourcing it's summary, so that's super useful to establish credibility. To be honest, I don't even think about Google search unless someone mentions it.
The whole Neeva search experience is very calming as there are no creepy, pesky ads and I know as a paying member my information is not being sold to third parties and I am not the product but a true customer in charge.
@ravi_vayuvegula As a user, I'm fully agree on the peace of mind part. Thanks for pointing it out. It's hard to going back once you realize it. Really appreciate for long-time supporter!
I've been using Neeva for over a year now, and I'm also a paying customer. I've been beta testing this feature now for a few months, and I have to say it has changed how I search for the better. I think Neeva is worth giving a shot. It's been my default search engine since I joined a year ago, and I don't see myself looking back.
This is one of the most intersting product I found this jauary on product hunt. I did some test searches and was impressed. I plan to use it as my primary search engine for the next few days to give it a thorough test.
Appreciate this @worklab, we hope you will continue to enjoy it and find it helpful. Please don't hesitate to send in feedback, the team is constantly iterating to make it better.
“AI” is a popular buzzword today, and means different things to different people. Here at Neeva, our take on AI is simple: apply machine learning techniques to sift through the vast quantities of information on the web, ultimately returning concise answers to your search queries. Having an answer is not enough, however. We also feel it is important to clearly attribute where the information comes from, so that you are empowered to make your own value judgments on the trustworthiness of the content.
This approach forms the basis of NeevaAI Answers, which I’m so incredibly proud and excited to share with you today! This launch represents a big milestone for us in delivering the AI-powered future of search, but we are actually just getting started. Your feedback - both positive and negative - is crucial to us for building the best possible product.
You can sign up for a free Neeva account today and try it for yourself. We can’t wait to hear what you think!
Neeva continues to reign in terms of quality results and less clutter b/c there are no ads. But this is really an opportunity to see how the future of search will be redefined with AI.
Search will no longer be a bunch of links, but tools to help you find exactly what you need. You can dive deeper if you need because there are careful sources and citations. With AI and large language models, Neeva Search is going to become more and more useful especially with fluent answers hooked up to a full stack search engine. Feels like this is a great foundation!
I've been using NeevaAI for a month and have found it to be the guide in search I never knew I needed. Or never knew the joy of having your search experience contextualized. The beauty in this product is the assistance is offers as our brains try to pattern match when searching for something. This leads to a discovery experience that is significantly higher quality.
Congrats @sridhar_ramaswamy1 and the entire Neeva team!
