Jan reached out to me a few weeks ago seeking feedback for their product. I am happy they are launching today. I also had a conversation with Jan and his co-founder Onur. They shared what they are building and why, it convinced me to hunt the product.

Needle is CASA Tier II, GDPR and CCPA compliant. Our organization is actively working towards achieving SOC 2 Type II compliance. We use the latest security practices and technologies to ensure that your data is safe with us. We encrypt your data at rest and in transit.
Regarding personal information, we have implemented reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee that information on our Services will not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by a breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.

It makes a huge amount of sense, we want data & we want it fast without the hassle of searching around etc.

Makes so much sense! No more answering "The customer already told us their requirement about this, I think it's documented somewhere in Google Drive or Notion", and then spending ages with Drive's search tool.
Is there a general way to import / link data in a service that y'all don't integrate with? For example, our call recording transcripts are in a tool called Glyphic.

@neilsatra1 Yes indeed there is. You can just load .txt files to needle either via the UI or via the API. Both options are possible. What do you intent to build?

@alexanderfarr Thank you so much! Absolutely. We collaborate extensively with remote and distributed teams ranging from 10 to 1000 employees to optimize their workflows and enable seamless collaboration.

@alexanderfarr one thing that we've noticed is that remote teams working in different time zones have specific knowledge that is sometimes locked up within individual talent or documented somewhere that is not intuitive.
Let's say you work in New York and several of your colleagues work in Berlin. It is afternoon, and your colleagues are currently asleep while you are working.
However, you need an answer to a question or you need context on a past decision. You are hitting a roadblock and need answers now to move forward on what you are working on.
Before Needle, you had the following options:
1. Wake up your colleague in the middle of the night and have a conversation.
2. Spend 1-4 hours searching through documentation on Slab, in Slack, in Google Drive, in Jira, etc.
3. Wait until tomorrow to ask your colleague, work on something else (perhaps lower in priority) in the meantime.
Now, you have a fourth option:
Ask Needle (which is connected to all of our company data) and get the answer fast.
You save several hours of time, get the answers you need and your colleagues sleep soundly :)
This is one of the ways we help remote / distributed teams.

@kate_ramakaieva Hi Kate! Needle would be a great complementary tool to automation platforms as a building block for semantic search. However in future, we'll release features that allow taking actions in plain natural language. Book a call with us, we can discuss more.
Great work guys! Looking forward to find the Needle in the Haystack. Just have some custom datasets, hence I thought can Needle integrate with less common tools or custom applications?

@mamutrer Thanks for the comment. We appreciate that you like Needle and find it useful. Indeed Needle can. We have dedicated connectors. Additionally we also have a connector SDK. Allowing to build your own custom connectors. On the other hand all our services are also able to be used via the API, so you could write a a custom cron job to send requests to the Needle API. I got the chance to try Needle for a side project. Very good product, with top-notch documentation!
I upload alot of documents and am incredibly bad at organizing them. this tool just makes my life easier because of that!
