I know. I know. There are a thousand different budgeting apps out there. Why do we need another one?
My wife and I discovered budgeting about 4 years ago now. I had just left my first company and we had a baby on the way. Money was tight and budgeting was an absolute game changer for us. We were able to get on the same page, dream about our future, and work together as a team like never before. We started teaching friends/family members and even classes at our church.
What we saw over and over again is that budgeting is a skill. And it's hard to acquire. Those who stick with it and get it? It's life changing. But most people don't. This is especially true of zero-based budgeting.
The solution is a budget coach. Money is deeply personal and nuanced. Following online tutorials and guides just doesn't cut it for everyone. Many need guidance and encouragement. So I started MyBudgetCoach. Here are the problems we are solving:
1) The Access Problem - Budget coaches today have outdated models. They charge large amounts ($1,000+) for packages of services that last months. It's a huge commitment without a way to dip your toes first. We're solving this with digital avatars coaches create of themselves that give users a taste of their guidance for free, built in.
2) The Market Problem - There isn't a central platform currently to find a budget coach. The financial industry serves people in retirement, investing, insurance, etc. But where is the central hub for helping people with the most foundational skill of all? Learning to control your cashflow is a prerequisite to the rest of the industry. We want to be the BetterHelp for budgeting.
We have a growing community of budget coaches on our Discord channel and are just now starting to advertise to users. Excited to finally launch here on Product Hunt!
