Carl and I launched MNMLLIST v1 back in 2018 as a simple side project. We're both big fans of minimal design and thought it would be fun to curate a directory of minimal products.
In 2019 we redesigned the site and made it a bit more structured. We uploaded some 500 or so entries, from blogs to art installations to shows.
Then we got sidetracked—as it's often the case with side projects—and the site was left behind. Late last year we decided to make a new version. We first considered the possibility of keeping the old content but after a quick check, a huge percentage of the links were no longer usable.
Dead links, squatted domains, retired products. It was a mess. So we scrapped everything and started from scratch. The spirit of the site is still the same: it's nothing more than a curated collection of products we like, some that we use personally, that all share a somewhat minimal aesthetic.
