Mixpanel’s Session Replay enables you to make better product decisions with both data and visual replays of user journeys. Analyze trends in your data, then zoom in to watch individual sessions and better understand why users do what they do.
Hey Product Hunters!
I’m DJ Satoda, Senior Product Manager at Mixpanel, and I’m so excited to introduce Mixpanel’s Session Replay—helping you make better decisions with complete user visibility. 🚀
Product Analytics tells you “what” happened. But as a PM, understanding the "why" is also essential. I need to understand:
- Why is this user not engaging with this feature? 🤔
- Why are my customers not converting? 📉
We got you.
Mixpanel's Session replay allows you to:
⚡Make faster and more informed product decisions
👀 Quickly pinpoint drop-offs in your funnels and instantly dive into replays to understand exactly why users get stuck
🤝 Build alignment with visual stories
Whether you’re part of Product, Design, Engineering, or Marketing, we want to help you eliminate guesswork and help you pair your big-picture insights with individual user experiences in seconds.
We’re excited to get Mixpanel Session Replay into the hands of more builders. It’s not just about watching videos—it's about gaining a deeper understanding of your customers to build better products. Give Session Replay a try and let me know what you think!

@dj_satoda1 Hey fellow Sept 17 launcher!
Oh this is really cool. Congratulations on the launch. After using Amplitude for a few years, quickly fell in love with Mixpanel.
Btw, your landing page definitely needs an interactive demo for visitors to play around with to *experience* the magic of Session Replay instantly, at least higher up the page ;)
Hey Dj Satoda,
How do you balance user privacy while still providing meaningful insights with the replay feature? Would love to know more about how you approach that challenge.
Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin Hey, super great question! We're "private by default" meaning all text, image, video, input elements are default blocked / masked. To have their contents unmasked / unblocked, this needs to be done manually and intentionally! We also have other privacy tools like exposing controls to only record certain parts of your app. Long winded way of saying: it's top of mind for us too :)
Interesting addition to Mixpanel's toolkit. The combination of quantitative data and visual replays could provide valuable insights. Curious about privacy considerations and how user consent is handled. The ability to quickly identify and analyze drop-off points sounds powerful. Wonder how it compares to standalone session replay tools in terms of features and integration. Could be a game-changer for product teams looking to bridge the gap between analytics and user behavior.
@andyroamer Great question Andy.
In terms of privacy: we're "private by default" meaning all text, image, video, input elements are default blocked / masked. To have their contents unmasked / unblocked, this needs to be done manually and intentionally! We also have other privacy tools like exposing controls to only record certain parts of your app.
In terms of feature comparisons vs. standalone tools, we're candidly not as feature robust, but we believe the magic of unifying our world-class analytics tools with qualitative is where we stand out! (as opposed to feature robust qualitative tools without quantitative context)
I love the idea of being able to analyze trends in data and then dive into visual replays of individual user sessions to gain deeper insights. Exciting stuff!
@dj_satoda1 Session Replay in Mixpanel is a great way to bridge the gap between data analysis and real user behavior. It’s exciting to see both quantitative and qualitative insights combined! How does it handle edge cases like users with slower internet connections or unusual browsing behaviors?
@haris_gul Great question! We're working on on local browser storage to improve continuity of replays / apps where browsing uses hard navigation and reinitializes our SDK each page
Great addition to the dev community - making informed and backed up decisions about what to develop seams like the best way to give users what they need. Congrats on the launch
