I recently onboarded onto a team and had to get a few apps running locally, and even with a dedicated technical writer, because we don't always update our readme file for each repo, it takes an hour or so to get a few repos set up on my local. And maybe a few sprints later, I have to go through this again. I can see how Mimrr can automate that process and help people quickly understand the codebase. But I think the coolest part is the ability to analyze the code base and discover bugs and tech debt to take care of. Congrats on the launch @olaoludeji and team!
Olaoluwa Ogundeji
@tonyhanded Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Mimrr is designed exactly for situations like this—making it easier to onboard and understand codebases without the hassle of outdated documentation. We're excited that you see the potential in automating these processes and tackling tech debt. Your support means a lot to us, Thanks again! 🚀

Hey there, Brian and Ola! 👋 Mimrr looks like a fantastic tool for tackling the ever-present monster of technical debt. As someone who's spent countless hours deciphering cryptic code comments (or worse, no comments at all), I can definitely see the appeal! I love the idea of semantic code chat - it's like having a really smart rubber duck to bounce ideas off of. And who doesn't want a coding sidekick that actually understands what you're saying? 🦆💬 The self-hosted AI solution is a smart move, especially for teams dealing with sensitive codebases. It's like having your own personal Fort Knox for code secrets. A bit of friendly feedback: 1. Have you thought about integrating with popular IDEs or version control systems? It could make Mimrr even more seamless to use in existing workflows. 2. The automated documentation feature sounds great, but how does it handle updating docs when code changes? That's often where the real challenge lies. Compared to other code quality tools out there, Mimrr seems to take a more holistic approach, which is refreshing. It's like having a Swiss Army knife for code quality instead of just a lint brush. Overall, Mimrr looks like it could be a real game-changer. Just remember, even with all this AI power, there's still no cure for the "it works on my machine" syndrome! 😉 Keep up the great work, and may your technical debt always be manageable!
Olaoluwa Ogundeji
@nikhilpareek Thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback! We're glad you see the potential in Mimrr. To address your points: 1. Yes, integrating with popular IDEs and version control systems is on our roadmap to make Mimrr even more seamless. We initially built a VS Code plugin for a file-by-file code documentation, but abandoned it for a simpler approach. 2. For automated documentation, Mimrr actively tracks code changes and updates the documentation accordingly to ensure it stays current. And you’re right—there’s no cure for the “it works on my machine” syndrome, but we’re doing our best to tackle the rest! 😊 Thanks again for the support! 🦆

Hey Olaoluwa and Mimrr team, how should a non-technical guy like me who's just starting to choose with cursor find it most useful?
Ali Eskandari
Funny enough... I was just talking another day with an engineering lead, and he was talking about the technical debt and issue they're having and how it is actually stopping their business side from scaling. They were getting clients but couldn't scale fast enough cuz of technical debt. This sounds interesting... I'll tell them to check out Mimrr. Congrats on the launch @olaoludeji 🤠
Olaoluwa Ogundeji
@ali_eskandari Thanks so much! It's amazing how technical debt can really hold back growth, even when everything else is going well. I’m glad Mimrr caught your interest, and I appreciate you spreading the word. Hopefully, we can help your friend's team scale more smoothly. Cheers! 🎉

Hey everyone! 👋 We’re thrilled to introduce Mimrr, the ultimate AI-powered tool designed to help developer teams eliminate technical debt and boost code quality—because who likes bugs anyway? 🤬The Problem Stackoverflow's 2024 survey showed that 63% of 28,251 professional developers agree that technical debt tops the list of the most common frustrations they face at work. Let’s face it, tech debt can feel like that never-ending laundry pile—overwhelming and hard to manage. Developers are often bogged down by incomplete documentation, lingering bugs, and security issues, making it hard to push out high-quality code. 😎The Solution Mimrr is here to save the day by helping dev teams: 1. Automate Code Documentation: No more procrastinating! Mimrr documents your codebase, so you can focus on what you do best—writing great code. 2. Enable Semantic Code Chat: Ever wish you could talk to your code? Mimrr makes it possible! Chat with your codebase to quickly understand and navigate complex systems. 3. Suggest Fixes for Bugs, Security, and Performance Issues: Think of Mimrr as your coding sidekick, pointing out pesky bugs and suggesting fixes before they turn into bigger problems. 4. @olaoludeji @devindsgbyq Hey Devin, I can help with your technical questions. We handle large (and small) codebases by first pre processing them with our compiler integrated tools pulling out each individual code element, (function, class, variable etc.) and then gathering their usages to provide context to our AI Rune, once the context is gathered Rune then processes each element to generate human readable documentation and analytics. With this knowledge Rune is able to semantically search huge codebases and provide detailed answers to any questions you might have about it. We are always adding new languages, Python is next on the cards, are there any languages you would like to see? Thanks Brian
Olaoluwa Ogundeji
@devindsgbyq Thank you for the kind words! Mimrr’s semantic code chat is designed to handle large and complex codebases by providing detailed, context-aware responses, making it easier to navigate and understand intricate systems. As for additional languages, we're actively working on supporting more, with Python expected by October 1 and other languages soon. Do you have a preferred language(s) in mind?
Brian Giggle
@olaoludeji @max_savonin1 Hey Max thanks for the questions and taking an interest in Mimrr, We support multiple programming languages (TypeScript, JavaScript, C# and Java, with python and PHP support actively being developed) We are currently ideating about how we can integrate a customers coding style to affect our coding suggestions at the moment we filter out opinionated suggestions and focus on security or objectively wrong code (unused parameters etc) We integrate with Github, Gitlab and Azure devops to link code repositories and we watch for changes to them to keep documentation and analytics up to date. We are working on IDE plugins to surface documentation and chat in IDEs. We would be happy to arrange a call about further details if you with. Thanks Brian
Olaoluwa Ogundeji
@kjosephabraham Thank you! The idea was inspired by my cofounder, @brian_giggle, who constantly struggled with lack of documentation. We wanted to create a tool that not only addresses this issue but also helps teams focus more on building and innovating.
Aarav Pittman
Users are likely to appreciate how it automates codebase documentation and handles technical debt. Good going team!
Olaoluwa Ogundeji
@aarav_pittman Thank you! We're glad you see the value in tackling technical debt. The team is excited to keep improving Mimrr and making developers' lives easier. Appreciate your support! 🚀
BookCoach
That sounds like a game-changer for startups—automating those tedious tasks could really free up time for innovation!
Olaoluwa Ogundeji
@soprana Thank you! That's exactly what we're aiming for—freeing up time for startups to focus on innovation instead of getting bogged down by tedious tasks.
Patryk Pijanowski
Hmmm sounds good but is it 100% sure that your AI won't accidentally introduce the startup to some worse mistake? As we know AI is still learning and if it suggests to change a piece of code and it turns out to be wrong then it will have a much bigger problem.
Olaoluwa Ogundeji
@patpijanowski You raised an excellent point—AI is powerful, but it's not infallible. While Mimrr’s AI is still work in progress, it is designed to suggest improvements, it’s important to review and test any changes, just like with any tool. If you're interested, we’d be happy to set up a demo to show you how Mimrr works. https://outlook.office365.com/bo...

Great to see the launch of Mimrr, Brian and Ola! 👏 The challenges around technical debt are definitely real, so I'm curious about how the AI approaches automating code documentation. Does it integrate with existing tools or frameworks that dev teams are already using? Also, I wonder how effective the semantic code chat feature is in navigating large codebases—can it truly handle complex queries or just the basics? Looking forward to seeing how this evolves!
Olaoluwa Ogundeji
@elke_qin Thank you for your interest and support! 😊 Mimrr's AI automates code documentation when you select a repo from your chosen provider (GitHub, Gitlab etc.). We treat your code as code, and create a documentation site even if you have no inline comments. Regarding the semantic code chat feature, it’s designed to handle both basic and complex queries, allowing developers to navigate large codebases with greater ease. We currently support 4 languages (Javascript, TypeScript, C# and Java), and we’re constantly improving its capabilities to ensure it meets the demands of even the most intricate projects. We're excited to see how Mimrr evolves with your feedback!
Nader Ikladious
