Mimic 3 is Mycroft’s newer, better, privacy-focused neural text-to-speech (TTS) engine. In human terms, that means it can run completely offline and sounds great. To top it all off, it’s open source.
Mycroft’s Mimic 3 is now live for you to download, play with and deploy in your own creations!
Mycroft is initially launching it as a Linux and Docker download and will soon offer it on Windows, Cloud-based, and one day MacOS.
Visit our blog to learn more about Mimic 3’s capabilities and for links to its Github.
This has been Mike Hansen, our Senior Software Developer’s, passion project so kudos goes to him. We’re stoked to be closing the loop on what we perceive to be an open source voice assistant’s shortcomings - how it sounds.
Lastly, (we gotta say it) Mimic 3 will come standard on all Mark II devices. Consider supporting Mycroft and our goal to create an open source, privacy-driven voice assistant platform.
Team members Kris Gesling, Sarah Karner, Michael Lewis and of course Mike Hansen will all be available to respond to messages.
Thanks, Hunters! Go open-source!
