Hi product hunters! I’m Shireen Jaffer, CEO and Founder of Edvo, and one of the makers of Mental Models. After helping 50,000 people navigate their careers, my team and I noticed that so many people simply want help making better decisions. Mental Models help with this and don’t require us to rely on anyone except ourselves! But our research showed that the majority of people aren’t even aware that Mental Models exist. 🙁 So we want to raise awareness for these powerful tools, and do our part to help you learn a few of them. 😀 We built this resource using glideapps.com, a really awesome tool that turns google sheets into apps! We’re not taking credit for any “mental models” - they’ve existed for years! We’re simply making them easier to learn and become aware of. They’ve helped me tremendously in navigating life better, and I hope they do the same for you. Feel free to let us know what you think of the app. We’ll be active in the comments for any feedback, questions, or thoughts! **UPDATE** We are so grateful for all the love and feedback. If you'd like to stay updated on future iterations, you can click "Notify Me" in the About section of the app, or feel free to leave your email here: https://edvo.typeform.com/to/aRqrod

@th3luck hi! The next iteration will absolutely be more user friendly. This is our 1st version to gauge appetite and feedback while raising awareness for mental models 🙂
edmund amoye
BRILLIANT! Downloaded the web app to my phone.
Shireen Jaffer
@edmundamoye Yes, definitely a good resource to have saved 😃if there's anything specific you'd like to see as you're using it, feel free to leave feedback within the app as well. thanks so much!
Shireen Jaffer
@edmundamoye thank you! will DM you by EOD

Like the product and that you decided to bootstrap and validate the idea before going to the full development process.
Shireen Jaffer
@gogola thank you! we appreciate the vote of confidence
Pravin Uttarwar
It seems like a really resourceful tool
Shireen Jaffer
thanks, @pravin_uttarwar3! Mental models in general have helped my thinking so much - glad we can raise awareness for them through this resource!
Samantha Q
Great concept! Could use some work on the UI
Darlene Dang
@samantha_quitorio Appreciate the feedback! We'll be focusing more on UX and UI in our next iterations. Let us know if anything else comes to mind as you explore the app :)
Jason Grad

@mrjasongrad Thanks Jason!! 😃

This is an interesting idea... Under "let's practice", I wonder if being able to respond to each of the list items separately (without waiting for the "Break it down..." button) would make the practice part more engaging? Also these would be awesome as something you could -listen to- instead of just read. I feel like I could use some mental models while I go on a walk or something. Lastly, I found the emoji's distracting and wished that I could scan through the text a little more efficiently (maybe just needs some formatting). Otherwise, this is a really cool idea. Upvote.
Shireen Jaffer
@patrick_bradshaw such good feedback - thank you for sharing!!
Sebastian Bauer
What a great idea! For faster/more concise help i would add more layers of questions to get to the most fitting model for the actual situation.
Shireen Jaffer
@sebastian_bauer Yes, that's the plan :D thanks for sharing!
Jonah Blah
Really interesting tool
Shireen Jaffer
@k3bron YES 😃thank you!
Rick Mossley
Looks interesting.
Blaž Abe
Great job!

upvote for the idea! Perhaps you can add screening and based on that ask users if they would like to unlock some skills? E.g. lots people are giving up on interviews after the first fail.
Shireen Jaffer
@spacegangster thank you so much for that feedback! will keep you updated on the next iteration :)

I love the PWA approach. Are you taking that approach because this is version 1 or you believe it is the future? For your current product, IOS development doesn't seem necessary. It was easy for me to bookmark and the UX/UI was clean. Only thing that would confuse people is scanning the bar code on your website takes users to a in-app browser which does not have an "add to home screen" option.
Shireen Jaffer
@russellreeder Such helpful feedback! Definitely exploring PWA. This initiative is a part of a larger personal learning tool we're building so will update you as we bake it out more.
Adrian Sean Taylor
Like the way it's presented. Focusses on the problem that I'm trying to solve -> how do I communicate better, for example.
Darlene Dang
@adrian_sean_taylor Yes!!! We really wanted to showcase how applicable mental models are in our everyday life :)
Dan Pantelo
Incredible work, filling a much needed gap with this.
Darlene Dang
@danpantelo Thanks, Dan! It's exciting raising awareness for these thinking tools 😄
Yevhenii Peteliev
Wow! It's brilliant. Great job! I can't wait when I try it 🖤 Congratulations!
Darlene Dang
@peteliev Thank you!! This is so great to hear. Let us know if you have any feedback as you try it!

Nice app! Just some suggestions: 1. tick box at end of each article to mark it was read. Once ticked the article name in the main list got marked as read for easy observation of which items have been read. This could be in the form of greyish item, a ticked checkbox as the bullet next to the article name, or a ticked icon at the left margin of the article name in the list. 2. daily notification of an unread random article
Darlene Dang
@fairread Yes! These are great suggestions, thank you! We'll be thinking about these for upcoming iterations. If you'd like to stay updated on any changes, let me know :)
