Maslo AI — A voice journal with personality and smarts
Featured

Maslo makes voice journaling quick, personal, and fun.

Here’s how it works:

Poke Maslo, pick a prompt, and start talking.

Maslo listens for sentiment, reacts with emotion, and shares what it hears back over time.

Recording data is private and secure so you feel comfortable being honest.

I'm always quick to try out now voice-based experiences. Such an interesting, nascent space. Downloading now...

@rrhoover 🤘 curious to get your input!
Ryan Hoover
@rrhoover reminds me of a more sophisticated version of Frank, a service that would call you at a specific time each day to journal audibly.

@zackshapiro Thanks for the support!

I've been following this team since meeting them at Techstars LA. Their vision of a companion (rather than utilitarian assistant) AI is super compelling and I believe will almost certainly happen. This version of the app merely hints at it. Very excited to see how they continue to develop the product.

@abenzer Thanks for all the support and mentoring. 🤓 🙌

I sometimes struggle to keep up a journal and almost never have time to read through it to pull insights. Maslo makes it easy to understand what exactly is on the top of my mind and how I can regain control over where I spend my mental energy. Realizing that 'work' was the top thing that I talked about helped me mentally separate work from the rest of my life. Highly recommended.

Pros:

Extremely interesting to see how your days string together

Cons:

I have issues getting started talking to my phone

Howdy Hunters -- i'm Ross the cofounder of team Maslo. Journaling is powerful and should be playful and fun. Excited to introduce you to beta Maslo. We would love for you to take a look and let us know what you think. All feedback welcome. Thanks!

Sometimes you just need to unload your thoughts and you don't actually want to talk to another human. This seems like the perfect companion.

Pros:

I would prob never write in a journal but I like that I have a dedicated place I can share my thoughts via voice. So much easier than typing

Cons:

I would like to see search functionality built into it.

I met @virtualcristina at the literal start of the year (New Year's Eve) and was blown away by her vision and commitment to Maslo. Definitely, a product and team to keep an eye on. 🎉

Thanks for the support @mattmayberry! 🙌

Care to expand on “private and secure” ? given recent events it would be wise to give some kind of proof of privacy & security before you perform analysis on people’s deepest personal thoughts (what people typically put in a journal)
Cristina Poindexter
@kartikcooks Critically important, we agree. Stay tuned for our security & privacy manifesto. For today, you can refer to our Terms of Service. TL;DR: we don't share your notes with anyone, and all data is encrypted during transport and at rest. https://maslo.ai/terms

@kartikcooks @virtualcristina a private journal app/service that asks for a perpetual voice-release license over access, usage and data includIng one’s voice? Absolutely not. Uninstalled. I could never recommend this to anybody. Nope. “In addition to granting us the rights mentioned in the previous paragraph, you also grant us a perpetual license to create derivative works from, promote, exhibit, broadcast, syndicate, sublicense, publicly perform, and publicly display Public Content in any form and in any and all media or distribution methods (now known or later developed). To the extent it’s necessary, when you appear in, create, upload, post, or send Public Content, you also grant Maslo Inc., our affiliates, and our business partners the unrestricted, worldwide, perpetual right and license to use your name, likeness, and voice, including in connection with commercial or sponsored content. This means, among other things, that you will not be entitled to any compensation from Maslo Inc., our affiliates, or our business partners if your name, likeness, or voice is conveyed through the Services, either on the Maslo application or on one of our business partner’s platforms.”

I don’t think most companies and users understand the concept of journaling anymore It’s supposed to be private, inaccessible to a second party, never mind a third one. This servIce is unencrypted and carries incredibly weird and convoluted TOS. The app doesn’t even have a remove button - one cannot delete an entry - and the developer had the nerve to respond when enquired “that’s a great point”. This doesn’t even look innocent..

@lyondhur We're glad you shared these comments. We understand it's not a satisfying contract for you as a specific user today, and we respect that. For others who might be following this thread: We are building more controls into the product experience as well as a robust public commitment on how we will and won't handle data. Step by step.

Always wanted something like this! Downloading! - Just saying; the shape of the app icon is a bit odd... is it supposed to mean something?
Ross Ingram
@ujzeee Let us know what you think! And re: icon ... not really 🤓
Udara Jay
@rossingram I love it! I've got a bit of an accent but it picked up most of the keywords right! I like it! At first, I assumed it was going to transcribe what I say in a journal, but audio recordings with the keywords pulled out + the emotions actually make sense. Questions: - Are there any limitations? Like premium version in the future? - Does it archive the audio locally on my phone?
Ross Ingram
@ujzeee Awesome! Good to hear. Questions : - We have ideas here, stay tuned. - Yes, Maslo keeps audio.
Lyondhür Picciarelli
Cannot remove entries? Hmmm..
Ross Ingram
@lyondhur Would you like to see that?
Lyondhür Picciarelli
@rossingram hey mate. I cannot see why the delete option had to be excluded or absent. In fact, from an UX perspective it makes no sense to me.
Ross Ingram
@lyondhur great point, will address in a future update.

to me this is absolutely awesome. Have been searching for products (STT diary/note or pure speech/voice diary/note) for years and no good findings. But then there's Maslo! and it's with AI!
Ross Ingram
@hesperiashimo Awesome, excited to continue improving the product.

Any plans for an Android app?
Mirella Zolli

The more I use it the more I love it because it gets to know me

Pros:

an easy place to check in with yourself, leave a voice trail and connect with a companion in your pocket

Cons:

would like to speak longer than a minute at the time, but can work around it by recording a different voice journal

lynda macareno

Overall, it's a wonderful app needing just a few here-and-there tweaks.

Pros:

It's a very creative app with more than just your average "mental health questions". It provides you with more than that.

Cons:

It can be improved by allowing there to be a rating as to how you are from a range of 1-10. There also should a texting option.
