10,000 UNIQUE collectible parcels of Mars, covering the entire planet, with proof of ownership stored on the blockchain. Trade & collect digital cards and become the Emperor of Mars π
π We have two passions: Cryptos (we both are Solidity developers) and the planet Mars (none of us is an astronaut though... yet). It became quite obvious that we had to build an NFT project that would demonstrate our love for the red planet. To do so, we started to work with a couple of very talented artists and astrophysicists to create the first NFT collection about Mars: Mars Genesis.
πͺ Mars Genesis brings you 10,000 unique collectible parcels of Mars, covering the entire planet, with proof of ownership stored on the Ethereum blockchain. The cards are sold as NFTs on ERC721, which makes them not only unique, but also unforgeable. Each card represents a parcel of land on Mars with unique coordinates, which are a part of the Smart Contract and define the uniqueness of a card. All data about the parcels are accurate to Human Knowledge and have been compiled from over 100+ state-of-the-art research papers about the Red Planet.
π If you're lucky, you may even get an animated premium card: Potential SpaceX landing site, Curiosity Exploration Site etc...
π We plan to add more features to Mars Genesis (Spacecrafts, Space Hotels, Space Farms etc...). Our ultimate vision is to create a real life simulation of what a human settlement on Mars could look like on a large scale.
π€ We have created a special private discord channel only for Product Hunters. It's an hidden channel that you'll automatically join if you're coming from Product Hunt. We will offer some free cards exclusively on this channel tonight (PDT) π€
βWould love to know what you guys think. Be brutally honest. How can we make this project better?
So would the ownership of these parcels be official and legal? Or how would it work? It looks like an interesting project but I'm not sure of the aim and meaning of it all
@rubenwolff Hi Ruben! It is an NFT collection about Mars, but we are not selling actual land on Mars (nobody can). The roadmap includes gaming and more features. And as any NFT collection or card collection, is also a form of investment, with a scarce amount of items and a marketplace to buy and sell (see CryptoPunks, BAYC, etc.). Let me know if you have more questions!
This is a fun one! Are you storing the art data on an IPFS or a decentralized network similar to Arweave where you pay upfront for storage? Mainly interested in how you are storing the data (pictures) linked to the NFT. If I buy a parcel and your company is abandoned in 5 years and you're no longer paying to host the data on a centralized network or and IPFS, then the "art" will be gone and my purchase will lose significant value.
@philipg Hi! Your ownership stored in the ETH blockchain includes a URL that points to a IPFS. This file includes all the attributes of the card, and also includes another IPFS url to the image itself. If we disappear tomorrow, your card and the ownership will still live forever :). The token is fully ERC721 compatible so you can also trade it outside of our marketplace, in sites like OpenSea.
@philipg I leave here an example (you need a IPFS extension in chrome to open it):

I understand the concept of NFTs but what happens if another project does exactly the same thing and auctions exactly the same parcels for Mars? "Uniqueness" is only project-wide. In fact there can be more projects selling Mars NFTs than actual parcels. This changes only if for example Elon would sell them or NASA.
Very cool NFT project with an interesting idea and execution. Will be interesting to follow how this project evolves over the years.
I like the newly added 4% royalty reward in perpetuity to the minters. Will inspire even more to get aboard early.
I have already claimed my parcel on mars - to supported the project and dev teams vision for the future..
@mario_ea Indeed, and as I understand there is a 1% tax going back to the development team. I like the fact that there is that, giving you guys even more incentive reason to keep the development going.
One of the best and soon most promising NFT Card games with an excellent Team and Product pipeline.. Lots to come and definitely recommended
Together we will build Mars :))
@andrew_tretyakov All the cards are unique because they represent specific parcels of Mars with their actual lat-long properties and conditions. There are also 17 special cards that feature real rovers (Curiosity, for example) and SpaceX potential landing sites (with a video instead of a picture)
