I don't know how this got this much negative reviews, but I'll tell you my experience.
I have been using MailTag.io for more than two months now, and I am pretty much satisfied with its performance.
Unlike other email trackers, this one didn't slow down my gmail, and that is something that made me stick to it.
It comes with email scheduling, email tracking and automatic pings, and that has made my job a lot easier. They show a notification whenever an email is opened, and I've segmented the email addresses based on the activity - like time of opening, location, etc. Now I schedule emails so that they are sent when the subscribers are most likely to read my emails. Doing this has increased my email open rate by some 17%, which in turn has increased the sales.
No downsides so far. Good customer support, affordable pricing and works well. But yeah, it is limited to chrome and desktops.
@naseef_p Thanks Naseef. It's been a crazy 2 months since we took over, but as you can see, the product is kicking ass again, and customer service is back to 24/7. Thank you for sticking with us!
I use to love this product, but like others are saying it went into a state of total disrepair. I was at my wits end, but recently got a response from the new owner Ben (ben@mailtag.io). He admitted that he was working day and night to fix all the problems and assured me things would be great moving forward. Super refreshing to hear that since he probably has thousands of emails to deal with. He even asked how he could specifically help with my own personal billing problems. I'm gonna hang in there and give him a shot.
Pros:
⢠When it works, MailTag was invaluable to my business.
⢠New owner shows promise to fix problems and enhance the product.
⢠Professional design
Cons:
⢠History of issues with old owner
I am a FULL year prepaid subscriber.
The productt stopped working just after he closed a funding drive.
Vendor ignores all support requests.
Vendor ignores all refund requests.
. No longer functional
B. NO response to support requests
C. Vendor does NOT respond to refund requests on his BROKEN product.
D. Does NOT respond to inquiries.
Pros:
When it worked, it was a GREAT product. So GREAT, I subscribed to the FULL PAID version
Cons:
Product in not functional and vendor is unresponsive.
@xzr1tv@ben_cohen Since the change in ownership, this appears to be a great product again. Does what it is supposed to do and does it well. Thanks Ben, for acquiring the product and "righting the ship"!!
Ben and I recently acquired MailTag; this means a new customer service department, stability, and renewed product roadmap. Now we need to earn back everyone's trust. WIP.
Well, as of now, I like this product a lot. Makes my job a lot easier.
But that was not the situation some two months back. Initially I took the trial version and was pretty much satisfied with it, and then chose one of the premium plans.
Everything was working fine, but gradually, some features stopped working. Contacted their customer support and there was no response, no response at all, and I chose an alternate email tracker.
It was great until it stopped working - the dashboard was awesome, the real time notifications, fast, and I didn't like the alternative as much as this one - but was okay with that.
Some two or three months back, I got an email saying that Mailtag is under new ownership and they apologize for the inconvenience, etc. And now I've returned to this one again.
It's not the same as it was before, it's a lot better. The dashboard now has a lot of information, their customer support was very responsive and polite when I approached them regarding subscription. No fails so far.
First of all, thanks to the new owners for taking over this product and making it work again. As many have mentioned, it went to a complete 'hibernation' for a long time. Nothing was working. My one year subscription seemed like a total waste, until Ben and Joe took the ownership.
They contacted me and asked me to give it one more try. Used it for some weeks, and totally loved the product. They have improved a lot in design, performance and features, and minor changes come every month.
works really really well, a totally satisfying experience during onboarding. After that, you can âset it and forget itâ and be notified when people open your emails.
I saw on the chrome store there was new management, seems like theyâre on the ball.
Amazing. Keep up the good work!
NEVER BUY MAILTAG! NEVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO TO MAILTAG!!
Below are reasons and my poor story:
1) In their dashboard, there is nowhere to delete your credit card, nowhere to cancel subscription. I was their customer in the past years, now I want to stop and remove my card. But I can't remove my card from their payment system. I failed..Now they charge year by year. Just like thief, steel money from your pocket forever!!!
2) When you ask their help to remove the credit card information. They never reply you!
I tried to email them, chat with them for more than 1 month. Until now, no single reply from them. And they keep steal money from my card in December 2018.
The emails list I contacted in the past 1 month is listed below:
They all endure the same nightmare as well ! Please check those negative comments in the Google chrome web store of mailtag. you will discover the truth. You will find that they failed to cancel when they want to.
Finally,
NEVER BUY MAILTAG!
NEVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO TO MAILTAG!!
BE AWAY FROM MAILTAG PAID PLAN!
Pros:
the dashboard is good looking
Cons:
there is nowhere to delete your credit card, nowhere to cancel subscription.they never reply you if you want to stop subscription payment
I have recently faced a similar situation! I was charged for a yearly subscription when I inadvertently clicked on a button in their portal. They do not confirm or display the pricing to the user and directly debit from the credit card! And now I am not hearing anything back from them despite repeatedly emailing their support team. All this despite them claiming a full refund guarantee within 24 hours on their website. This is a FALSE claim. @aedson98. @rrhoover can such websites not be penalized in some way and held accountable to their users.
Hi @karen_yang1
We acquired MailTag 2 weeks ago and we are reaching out to all users to make sure they've been given a voice regarding any issues they've had.
The technical issues have all been resolved, the product is back in working order and we are replying to customer inquiries around the clock.
Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you.

Haha, I like their privacy policy:
"You can read the legal mumbo jumbo for yourself below.
But in-case you were curious, we only communicate with Google servers through the Gmailâs API (OAuth) and never store any data present in your inbox. This makes MailTag more secure than many other email products."
@arunsathiya i consistently switch between iMac, MacBook, iPad, iPhone and work MacBook and Safari provides the smoother transition between all đ¤ˇđťââď¸
Perfect!
I had subscribed to a premium plan earlier but got it cancelled somehow, when things seemed going in the wrong direction. First of all, the automatic pings stopped working. Then the dashboard was having some issues. I saved my ass anyway.
I knew how great this product was, and I have used some other products but they didn't give me the satisfaction this one once gave. Mailtag tracks CTR too, and that was very important to me as it gives me an idea of the best performing email formats.
Now after almost an year, I have again subscribed to Mailtag after getting emails and seeing some reviews on the internet. And this time, they have really impressed me. Very fast customer support - gave me a reply in 15 minutes when I told them I wanted to try the trial version again.
Email segmentation is still not available though. It will make it even more easier.
I wrote several times to NOT renew especailly when they sent an email that they would review. I wrote them immediately and they did not respond.. They charged me for 1 year renewal. They have yet to respond despite repeated requests. I hope to get my bank to help but the jury is out. They used to respond to questions when I was new user but now Unresponsive and NO support.
Pros:
ok in the beginning but sometimes did not get any read confirmations especially on very important ones.
Cons:
There are alternatives but no idea of support and I HATE the enrollment automatic renewal policy.Very difficult to get them to stop.
Hi @dom_rossi - sorry for your trouble! We acquired MailTag 2 weeks ago and we are reaching out to all users to make sure they've been given a voice regarding any issues they've had. Let's connect.
This is not true as of now. I click the box in preferences and it says I must start a free trial, which is not the same as having it on your free version.
@revhuff Hi Josh, you do not need to begin a free trial of our premium plan to remove the watermark.
You can track your emails (and link clicks, email reopens, open rates, etc.) on our free plan without ever needing to upgrade. :)
Here is a GIF: https://gyazo.com/09e6e3b5ab5f19...
Once you click remove, simply exit the pop-up and proceed to send your email (the watermark will not be present).
Please email Help@MailTag.io if you have any questions. :)
I started to just the product when they first launched and the CEO would answer support emails, but since they did the fund raising it has gone to hell in a hand basket. They have stopped responsing to support emails and have dropped off the plant.
Pros:
It used to be good
Cons:
Unable to get ahold of anybody at the company, they never return emails.

The last one month was so productive and I am literally able to do a weeks work in one or two days, thanks to this amazing product.
I was looking up methods to increase sales through email marketing and came across Mailtag in one of the YouTube videos. And from that point, there was no looking back. I have increased the sales by 20% after using Mailtag, and the effort that I had to put was really less. The point is to use all the features like scheduling, pings and tracks effectively to its full potential.
Would recommend to anyone doing email marketing for their business.
Nice product @aedson98
Quick question though, how do you compare yourself with Mailtrack for example who also offer free unlimited tracking and free watermark removable such as you?
Thank you very much, @stephanejuban! And great question, I'm glad you asked.
Unlike Mailtrack, MailTag is the only email tracking tool in the Chrome extension store that provides you with:
- Free push notifications when your emails have been read (and free link-click push notifications)
- Free link-click tracking
- Free full email open history
- Free kick-ass dashboard (which shows you neat things like unread emails and your average open-rates).
- Free 24/7 email support
- Free live-chat support
- We offer an all-in-one premium package called PRO, which is purchasable with a monthly subscription (just $3.15 a month, billed annually). Compare this to Mailtrack, which charges $60.00+ a year and refuses to offer monthly billing plans.
- And, in addition to all of the above benefits, our dashboard allows you to track your email open-rates, link-click rates, and other relevant data with easy to understand graphs (Mailtrack has no such features).
MailTag: https://gyazo.com/cf68201e641b96...
Mailtrack: (No graph available, as they charge you to access their dashboard).
But the best part about all of the above is that the best is yet to come (be sure to follow our company on Twitter for all the latest and greatest - https://twitter.com/MailTagio
Also, compatibility for all major browsers and email clients is coming soon. :)
@aedson98 Nice thanks for the summary đ¤
I might switch then when the compatibility with Google Inbox is out...
Also, I can't say that Mailtrack support is fantastic, I once asked to try the "team plan" for free for one month before purchasing it for us but they never answered. I guess we are too small to be considered as true client... but they have a good Google Inbox integration, so I'm still using it... but the Free plan... âď¸
@stephanejuban Happy to help. :)
Yes, I've heard Mailtrack support is slow.
MailTag guarantees a response within 24 hours, 7 days a week (365 days a year).
I think we'll "win you over" with our upcoming MailTag V2 update.
Be sure to follow us on Twitter for the details so you don't miss anything. :)

@stephanejuban Can't give an exact date at the moment, but I can assure you that an illegal amount of Redbull is being consumed by our team to get this to you as soon as humanly possible.
But definitely not more than 30-60 days. :)
