Heard a lot, but never used this piece of software. @asia_kolisnichenko , a promocode would be appreciated! Congrats with a launch!
Liliia Onkhonova
@asia_kolisnichenko @pavlo_pedenko Hey Pavlo, thank you. I'll pm you =)
Jason Keyz
@liliia_on Did someone say Promo Code?! I'd love one too! P.S. I'd be happy to write a review on my blog and promote in my group after playing with this! Congrats on the launch!!
Liliia Onkhonova
@jasonkeyz Hey Jason, I'll PM you.
Bryan
@jasonkeyz @liliia_on may I have a promo also? Thanks in advance!
Brian Burgasser
@liliia_on Congratulations! This is perfect timing for me with libraries since I’m looking to break away from the traditional photo managers. I would like to request a promo code, too. Thank you.

"Pay once and enjoy forever" How long is this version actually going to be supported? I'm assuming we will have to pay for v4 once that comes out. Will v3 still be getting bug fixes after v4 comes out?
Liliia Onkhonova
@tonybrix Hey Tony, all the updates will be free for this version. And I'm sure bug fixes will be done before the next version comes. After releasing the next Luminar we'll be adding support for new OS.
Tony Brix
@liliia_on Yes but will v3 get bug fixes after v4 is released as well, or will people be forced to pay more to upgrade to v4 when it comes out? What is the timeline for v4 to be released? Forever is a long time to support software for no additional charge.
Alex MacGregor
Will you release a web app version of this product? Still looking for an intuitive, fast desktop web based photo editing app.
Liliia Onkhonova
@ajmcgr Hey Alex, thanks for your question! Right now we're not working on a web version of the product. But thank you for the request, I'll forward it to our CTO.
micah rich
This looks really flipping awesome! I'm curious, how does it do with large libraries of like thousands and thousands of photos? That's one of the biggest things I'd have to think about to consider switching from Lightroom (which I'd love to do)! Anyone have any insight? 🙇🏻‍♂️
Maria Gordienko
@micahbrich that’s a great question! It works perfectly well with big libraries too. The best thing about Luminar 3 is that it doesn’t import your photos, but works with your file structure and syncs all changes that occur there. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

An excellent photo editing app for all users

Pros:

Great product, great team, great AI, and no subscription

Cons:

none

Alex Balabanov

It's way easier and faster to produce a vivid web-ready image with Luminar compared to my Lightroom Classic experience

Pros:

Luminar is intuitive and I particularly like the embedded filters collection, they match my taste quite a lot

Cons:

It's somewhat sluggish around large (1000+) collections of RAWs

Chema

It's an amazing piece of software for photographers. But does not work in Linux. That's a big issue for me, would not mind paying it at all.

Pros:

Great tools easy interface

Cons:

does not work in ubuntu

Inna Revutska
Looks really promising! A question here: what exactly do you use AI for? I mean, AI is a popular topic right now, and it seems like everybody claims to use it just to win more attention. Where can I find out more about your technology?
Liliia Onkhonova
@inna_revutska Hey Inna, thank you for your interest! As a company, our mission is to develop AI that helps people with routine editing and gives them new creative tools. Recently, we've added AI Sky Enhancer filter - no more layering, masking, and all the pains that comes with manually editing skies, now all the heavy lifting is done by one slider. You can read more about it here: https://skylum.com/blog/luminar-... One more very effective tool - Accent AI filter that allows you to enhance several things in the photo in one click. And there're more to come next year! Please, stay tune, Inna.
Inna Revutska
@liliia_on Thanks Liliia! So if I get it right, AI Sky Enhancer detects the sky on a photo automatically. What happens if I upload a photo with no sky on it (like a still life pic)? I wouldn't be able to apply this filter?
Liliia Onkhonova
@inna_revutska Yes, you're right - the filter detects the sky and applies the edits only to this area leaving untouchable other objects in the photo. And if there's no sky so no changes will be made.
Iryna Tyulpa
Hi all! Great product! I’ve tried with nearly 500 photos from my birthday party and it took a few minutes to get them all into the library. Awesome speed. Then I checked the long-awaited sync adjustment feature – it works seamlessly. I love it. Has somebody tried to upload more photos, like a few thousands? How long will it take to browse them?
Liliia Onkhonova
@iryna_tyulpa Yes, sure. Luminar 3 works really fast as there’s no need to re-import images, simply selecting a folder adds it to Luminar and you can do it with thousands of photos.
Iryna Tyulpa
@liliia_on Sounds very promising) I'll check this 😉 BTW, if I remove the image from libraries – will it be removed from my hard drive?
Evgeny Tchebotarev
@iryna_tyulpa I have 15,000 photos in Luminar now, and the browsing is fast. They are on external HDD (not SSD, just regular hard drive), and browsing is super fast. Just a couple of minor bugs to fix, that team already knows about, and it's going to be just fantastic.
Liliia Onkhonova
@iryna_tyulpa No, it's not, It will get first to the Trash folder in Luminar. It's made to protect your photos. And if you want to delete it from the hard disk you need to delete the photo form that Trash folder.
Evgeny Tchebotarev
I joined Skylum team earlier this year because after 12 years of building one of the best photo communities in the world (maker of many cool PH products, like RAW by 500px and 500px 4.0 for iOS), I got to know many players in the industry. And back when my company partnered with Skylum (then called MacPhun), I couldn't have had a better partner — on time, quick, reliable, and excited about community as much as I am. So when I started to have a conversation about joining Skylum, I have talked extensively with the leadership about community, and what it meant for me. I'm so glad I did — the team is honest, hardworking, and deeply cares about users (just read @alex_tsepko manifesto about actionable items to keep community happy and excited). Luminar 3, in a nutshell, also represented the innovative thinking, and the care about photographers who spent so much time and give away too much money to other products, while being continuously frustrated. I'm glad that now photographers all over the world have another option — and great at that — to make their photos truly stand out.
Liliia Onkhonova
@evgeny_tchebotarev Thank you very much, Evgeny! We are happy to have you in our team. I'm sure we've got a strong team player who can help make our product better and build a wide community of Luminar users in the world.
Alex Tsepko
Hello to a fantastic PH community. It’s great to be with you again. This year was absolutely crazy, but the team managed to do something almost impossible and release the new Luminar 3 with Libraries on time. Give it a try and let us know what you think. With Luminar we’re building a platform that will give your photos the best treatment: from organization to enhancement to sharing. We love photography, we are driven by innovation and your feedback. So don’t be shy: try Luminar, upvote Luminar, enjoy great photography, love each other and stay awesome.

It's the must have product for photo lovers and professionals

Pros:

extremely fast and powerful editor

Cons:

cool and mature product. I don't see any cons

Evgeny Tchebotarev

Been using it for a while, and love seeing progress over last several months.

Pros:

Innovative tools, thinking about the future, moving fast, and really focused on the community.

Cons:

Sometimes can be a bit buggy (fixes have been coming pretty fast), and slow (although need to test it on a faster than a 2014 laptop).

Fajar Siddiq
Wow! Congratulations
Liliia Onkhonova
@fajarsiddiq Thank you very much, Fajar! We've been working hard to make it happen
Diana Clark
At last! I've waited for Luminar Libraries for a year. Looks like my patience has finally paid off. Nice gift for Christmas.
Liliia Onkhonova
@dianacl97652243 Hey Diana, I know it's been a long year for everyone! But here it is! Thank you for your patience, I hope you'll like Luminar 3.
Iryna Sknar

Instantly! In just one moment I had access to all the photos on my Mac. And it made me realize that there are folders and shoots I thought I got read of years ago.

I've used Luminar before so I'm kinda used to its editing power (AI filters and LUTs are my favorite) but that libraries thing completely blew my mind. Great job!

Pros:

User friendly, great result, looks cool

Cons:

search by keywords

Scott Ragin
I'm not a professional photographer but I do landscape photography as a hobby (my remedy for the soul) I decided to edit just a couple of photos that I had taken recently, in order to familiarize with the tool in trial version, but instead, I uploaded all 537 photos and spent hours scrolling, sorting and editing. I was so drugged in by the variety of new features that completely forgot about the time. If I have to choose between Lightroom (which I used previously) and Luminar 3 then I opt for Luminar with complete confidence because it fully meets my needs. Wrap it up I'll take away)
Maria Gordienko
@scott_ragin thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We're so excited to welcome you to Skylum team, so many great things are to come in 2019. Happy holidays!
Liliia Onkhonova
@scott_ragin Hey Scott, I'm really happy to hear that! You are right, there is much to love about Luminar 3: its innovative interface, ease-of-use, over 100 photo editing features including AI-powered filters, powerful editing functionality that meets the requirements of photographers of any skill level and the new Libraries. So I'm sure it'll help you to create more stunning photos and share them with your friends&family!
Asia Kolisnichenko

New Luminar with Libraries is GREAT! Thank you folks at Skylum for the awesome product! For sure, it is not perfect with the first libraries release, but looks like a perfect Lightroom alternative in the nearest future.

Pros:

AI powered editing tools, easy to use, sync edit adjustments, smart support team

Cons:

Updated version looks good, but has lots of things to be fixed

Marco Cheung
I check on the local site, which is Asia site, listed "Luminar 2018" at USD59, while the US/global site listed as "Luminar 3" with USD69... I am confused, what are the differents?
Liliia Onkhonova
@marcoatwill Hey Marco, Luminar 2018 and Luminar 3 are different products with different prices. The Asian website will be updated later with the new Luminar 3 available.
Sabina Rosenbrand

Great product! At last I can organize all my photos and find them at one place

Pros:

Easy to use. All edits stays within Luminar, no need to import your photos.

Cons:

Preset thumbnail loading speed
