Simplifies app localization and helps you reach more users. Use a machine translation service to translate your App. You can also provide context for better translation.
Hi Product Hunt! π
Last year, I created LocalizeBot as a way to quickly translate apps. People seems to love simplicity, but also question about the quality and accuracy of the translation.
This new update means to tackle that problem. I try to solve that by giving a option to provide more context for the translation.
In this update I added 3 features:
1. Add app description as an additional context for translation.
By telling what app does, it can improve accuracy of the translation. For example, "book" can be noun and verb.
- For a Book tracker app, book might be a noun.
- For a Hotel booking app, this probably be an action to book a room.
2. Using comments as an additional context.
App description alone is not enough since some word has many meaning. For example, "Order" can be noun, and many meaning for verb. Without more context, it would be impossible for translator to get it right. In this update, comments are used when doing translation.
3. Apple Glossary.
Use standard translations from Apple for common words, e.g., "Done", "Cancel". This will make translation align with the rest of the system apps.
In summary:
β¨ Auto-localize with GPT-4
π Supported xliff and xcloc files.
π Apple Glossaries: Use Apple translations for common UI texts such as "OK", "Save", Cancel", and "Done".
π You can add a brief description of your app to provide more context for AI translation.
π Comments are taken into consideration when performing translation.
π±οΈ Easy to use interface: Just drag and drop your files into the app.
π±οΈ One simple click to start translations.

congratulations on the launch of localizebot + context, sarun. the updates, especially using app descriptions and comments for context, seem very insightful for improving accuracy. how do you see this feature evolving? do you plan to incorporate user feedback into further refining these contextual translations?
