Hey there PH! 👋 🐈 Paul here, founder @ Listen App I know this is a strange time to launch products, but perhaps this will make quarantine more interesting. Listen App is a new type of social network. Just as podcasting is intimate; we're extending the human voice into your social interactions. Your app will come pre-installed with a few shows: Pandemic Checkin, Remotely Possible, and Market Snacks. The producers of these shows are looking to interact with you and create new episodes incorporating your voices! Podcasting needs a new social network: 1. Traditional social platforms don't interface with audio (ex. you can’t post a link to an episode because everyone uses a different player). 2. When you listen to an episode, it’s extremely difficult to find other like-minded people who have also listened to it for you to discuss. 3. Podcasts subscribers are some of the best naturally forming communities that are completely untapped. Meanwhile, podcasters are eager but don’t have a good way to engage with and build communities for their listeners. So we took all of our lessons from or previous podcast app and designed something that I’m incredibly pleased to present to you! Here's what makes Listen App different: 🎙 👄 We used voice+transcription instead of text for all posting/commenting. This allowed us to maintain the intimacy of the voice not just for listening but also for discussing. 💄📲Also, we're obsessed with product design and were fortunate to have some of the best designers working on this. 🤝🗣Listen App is uniquely bridging the gap between podcasters and listeners. Many fantastic podcasters joined the platform before we even launched. I can’t wait to read your feedback and hear your voices on the app! Claim your handle to get the good ones :) Let’s start to create a community of podcast listeners and geek out 🤓Btw, thanks @bramk for the hunt!

@bramk, you're the best!

@paulmikhaylenko congrats on the launch! Love the idea behind it and appreciate how well you executed on the overall experience. Looking forward to seeing how the conversations evolve around episodes.
Paul Mikhaylenko
@urbanorganism Thanks you! Yes, I imagine it like sitting around the table with other listeners and having an asynchronous chat :)

@paulmikhaylenko - I may be missing something but how do I interact/talk with the podcast hosts?
John Lee Dumas
FIRED UP to be a supporter and advisor for Listen App. More than ever, podcast hosts and listeners need the ability to engage, and Listen App is the best opportunity for us to do just that. Love it!
Paul Mikhaylenko
@john_lee_dumas John, you've been incredibly helpful. Honored to have you part of this project! 🙌

Very VERY cool concept. Definitely giving it a go. Congratulations on the first tutorial episode with your kid. That was nice. Nothing but love for this project so far.

One annoying thing though.. although I’ve skipped choosing interests and podcast to import only my subscriptions, the app subscribed me to a LOT of podcasts that I have no interest into nor did I want on my list anyway. And it’s really slow and hard to unsubscribe them (one by one, no batch actions). Aaargh!
Paul Mikhaylenko
@lyondhur thank you for your kind words of support! Apologies for the inconvenience.. but the shows we pre-installed are part of a campaign to give our early users a starting place for interaction on the app.
Lyondhür Picciarelli
@paulmikhaylenko it would be cool to be notify the user in advance. It took me a while to delete them all and I wouldn’t really want to add any of them regardless. It feels a bit like forced help if I may say so..? I’ll be sure to reinstall the app in the future to see how it evolves. As of now, sticking to my other app and not transitioning. All the best. PS: Not sure if this is a general issue, but it hogged quite a lot of my battery as well. iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 11 Pro, on both.
Pat Flynn
So incredibly proud to be a part of this project! Can’t wait to see it as a staple app on everyone’s device, and conversations happening where they should have been happening for a long time now. Well done team!
Paul Mikhaylenko
@patflynn Thank you for being part of this project from the beginning! I'm honored to have such an amazing group of people supporting the project and giving feedback. 🙏😭🤓
Melissa Hollis
Basically like a podcast with my friends where we talk about our favorite podcasts, what could make more sense?
Dash Michaelenko
Just the vision alone is worth standing behind👌🏻
Arkadiy Dorokhov
Great design and user experience. Definitely will be the app of choice for podcasting.
Vladimyr Nester
This UI blows me away! Apple should learn from you! Simplicity and color scheme is unreal! Excited to see how this will go to the moon! Let’s gooo!
Paul Mikhaylenko
@nesterqa Thanks man! Means the world to me to have your support ❤️

What’s up guys! Just downloaded Listen App and it’s amazing! Love it! Will keep it on my phone forever! I personally know the guy who’s behind this project and he put all of his efforts and passion into this app. Absolutely amazing. Make sure to download this app and enjoy it!! 😁
Paul Mikhaylenko
@paul_long thanks Paul!!!! 🙏
Jordan Beary
For me podcasts have always been about immersing yourself in conversation and the Listen App is a natural progression of the podcasting experience. Can't tell you how many times I've finished listening to a Lex Fridman podcast and immediately called a colleague to chat about it. This was such a genius idea and executed perfectly...THANK YOU Listen App TEAM!
Paul Mikhaylenko
@jbeary Jordan it means the world to hear this kind of confirmation!
William Martindale
Great idea and execution! I've been looking for a way to engage with the broader podcast listener community.
Paul Mikhaylenko
@williammartindale1 Thanks! me too :)
Khoa
Very nice, the ui is fluid, can't wait to try
Ridd
Nice work gang! I enjoyed the audio. The voice > transcribe in a social context is something I've thought a lot about in the last few years and am so pleased to see it executed at a high level. Keep it up!
Paul Mikhaylenko
@ridderingand_ Thanks Michael! This has recently become an option as the API's became available. Apple allows us to transcribe on the device so it's instant regardless of internet speed :)
Nik Kotov
One of the best designed podcasting apps out there. I’ve became a full believer when Listen let me import my existing library from Apple Podcasts. Keep it up @paulmikhaylenko!
Paul Mikhaylenko
@nkotov thanks Nik! 🙏

I’ve been waiting for this app to go live for a long period of time, ever since Paul messaged me about the concept. I truly believe in a time of chaos human connection is something we can all use and I’m excited to see where this goes. Oh and the UI is absolutely sexy and a pleasure to use! Congrats Paul and team!
Paul Mikhaylenko
@wherethesmickat I'm certainly looking forward to hearing all the voices!
Sergey Dergachev
Good idea!
Ryan Kucey
Pretty cool. I’d suggest a couple of things: - as part of the user setup, I should be prompted to select whether or not I want to download new episodes automatically. - It should be easier to access the show notes. I though that when I opened the player, I could just swipe up on it to pull up the show notes. I had to tap around for a while to find it. Other than that, it’s a great app!
Paul Mikhaylenko
@ryankucey Thats good feedback. Did you not like that auto-download was on for new episodes?
Jennie Friedman
It’s exciting to finally be able to put a voice to an anonymous number!!
Paul Mikhaylenko
@jennie_friedman 👄the voice is a beautiful thing!
Kris Bennett
Very cool concept! Could be a game changer! Just listened to a little Gary Vee!
Ravi Kaufman
Awesome.
