Unsensational news that's published once per day without images, videos, ads, or other unnecessary distractions. News articles link judiciously to contextual information behind the headlines so you actually learn something while reading the days events.
I found myself reading the news way too much a few years ago, so I built this news website that publishes the news only once per day without any images, videos, ads, or all the other insanity that's displayed on news websites these days. It grabs the latest newsworthy headlines off of Wikipedia and displays it in a minimal UI that's free of distractions and insanely fast, which I define as 250ms or less.
In an effort to read the news even less I built a weekly digest that aggregates the daily headlines and emails it out Friday afternoon. This allows me to "stay informed" without falling into the trap of constantly checking the news.
Finally, I found myself getting really annoyed at how slow news websites were, mainly because of all the ads they pump into their pages, so I created a speed comparison at https://legiblenews.com/speed that plugs into the Google Page Speed tools to test all major news websites. To no surprise Legible News is the fastest 🏎️💨
