This is our first PH launch and we’re super excited to share with you what we’ve been working on. 🤓 First why are we building Layer? @samabi and I have been building software for many years now and realised that the way teams currently collaborate is mildly insane. Work and collaboration are two complete separate processes, we work on the web and collaborate on isolated apps like Slack, Linear and Notion where we export web contents to discuss it. This leads to disjointed workflows, context switching, loss of context, etc. Figma gave us a glimpse of the incredible potential of deeply integrating collaboration into the productivity flow, and we wonder why hasn't it been implemented across all apps. 🎯 Layer is a Chrome extension that transforms your browser into a multiplayer experience with your team. Every website or web app becomes a collaborative space where you can leave layers of information, ideas, feedback, or notes for your team. And when words aren't enough, you can dive into live sessions, exploring the internet together in real-time with synchronised navigation and live cursors. Imagine the collaboration features of Figma, but now extended to the entire web! Here are just a few of the exciting use cases where Layer can be a game changer: - 🔬 Research: Annotate competitor/industry websites with layer to highlight key insights for exploration. - 🎙 Feedback on website: Provide feedback, suggestions, or report bugs directly in context - 💭 Inspiration phase: Collect images and interactions for personal or team inspiration and reference. - 🛠 Tool documentation: Leave contextual notes on ERP, BI, CRM tools for more info or explanation. …and so much more. Super cool product! has been helping our team out a lot

I had the opportunity to demo Layer over the last few weeks across a range of internal teams. We used Layer for CRO Optimization and collaboration across landing pages, PDF contract reviews within browser, dashboard creation and visualisation on Metabase, project management workflows, HR benefit packages and more. The opportunities really are endless and each team found the tool easy to use. Normally when you try to introduce a new product, tool or workflow the adoption and usage is low but with Layer it was seamless and felt so natural. Layer is incredible especially in a remote work environment. Congratulations Tarek, Sam and the whole team!

Excited to try it! Which use case is resonating the most?

Always been a huge fan of how Figma integrated the multiplayer experience into their app, it set the standard of what multiplayer should be and makes me, perhaps unfairly, compare other mutliplayer experiences with Figma's. The problem has seemed to be that making multiplayer is hard and when teams are focused on their product's key value proposition, it's often hard to dedicate the time and resources needed to focus on multiplayer. This looks like the way forward for many of those applications, to some extent it's multiplayer as a service. It makes anything multiplayer + widens the context of the multiplayer experience. I wonder if the team starts to embed itself into native applications next. I'm extremely impressed at how smooth this is, when on websites I don't feel like this is a layer on top and can be fooled into thinking it's developed by the website's developers and embedded within the product. Phenomenal work here Tarek + Sam! Can't wait to see what's next!!!

Thrilling concept with a cool name, so ofc I'm gonna check it out. Are there multiple layers for different contexts / team vs personal layer? Or am I just imaging the onion layers metaphor lol 🧅

I had the chance to watch the co-founders, Sam and Tarek, work thoroughly on several products that they already succesfully sold and marketed. I must say that this one is the best. I’ve tested Layer and enjoyed it so much. Seamless and easy! Thanks and waiting for more product updates from these guys!

I am thrilled to witness the launch of Layer on PH! Over the last 2 months, I've had the privilege of utilizing it in its beta phase, and I'm delighted that it's now open to a wider audience. Layer has proven to be incredibly useful for me, particularly when it comes to providing front-end feedback. By directly annotating webpages, it eliminates the need for lengthy exchanges and screenshot sharing with my team, saving me hours of work!

Really great team and as someone that works with product, design, and engineering there is definitely value to be added here!
