Lava — Create, share, & discover audio conversations with friends

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I really love the authenticity of conversations, the convenience of podcasts, and the social benefits of sharing your ideas on the internet. Like many people, I tried to make a podcast but quickly realized that the time and financial investment was hard to justify since I just wanted to talk to interesting people without becoming a full-time creator. I also tried the live audio apps but didn’t love the inconvenience of working around other people's schedules (plus a hundred-person room is simply not the same as a 1-on-1 conversation). So myself along with a few others built a new way to share your ideas using a mobile app that empowers you to capture, discover, and curate your conversations through social audio (video coming soon). And today we're thrilled to launch Lava into beta on iOS. Lava's mobile app is designed for you no matter if you're a listener, creator, or both: - Record your conversation then add a photo and title to easily share your ideas with the world - Discover podcasts and audio clips through your personalized feed that learns as you listen - Follow your favorite creators to stay up to date with their latest posts and slide into their DMs - Craft new topics by curating content in public playlists on your profile - Upload your existing podcast to directly connect with your audience TLDR; Lava is the destination for conversations on the internet. You no longer have to text through Tweets, filter photos on Instagram, or edit videos on TikTok to build your persona. Nor do you have to buy equipment, edit audio, and promote your podcast to have a lasting voice online. With Lava, you can share your ideas through the authenticity of your own voice using an intuitive mobile app that empowers new communities to flourish. Hello, Product Hunt 👋 I've really enjoyed building Lava with @jall_n over the past year. When John first pitched me the idea, I realized that the existing solutions for getting your voice on the internet seemed a bit behind the times. A podcast, for example, typically involves buying or renting equipment, editing the files on your computer, hosting a website, and then promoting that website however you can. We thought there had to be a better way for people to get involved in audio, so we built Lava. Lava lets you easily get your voice on the internet without any equipment beyond your phone and an internet connection. And our other features—a personalized feed, social interactions, and playlists, to name a few—aim to make Lava into a fun community where there is always more to discover.
