Little Snitch 4 — Shows connection alerts when apps are connecting
Featured
13

Whenever an app attempts to connect to a server on the Internet, Little Snitch shows a connection alert, allowing you to decide whether to allow or deny the connection. No data is transmitted without your consent. Your decision will be remembered and applied automatically in the future.

Is this a free upgrade for Little Snitch 3 users?

Great preparation for macOS High Sierra this Fall, or those running the beta.

It shows a black screen after installation and restart. Anyone meet this problem?

The ultimate network controller for the Mac has had a bit of a facelift. Plus new functionality including a completely redesigned Network Monitor, an Extended Research Assistant, Redesigned Silent Mode and a whole bunch of other modern Mac stuff that keeps your Mac ready for the new digital age. Brilliant tools that make it easy to spot where all those bits are going to and coming from. Default on every Mac I own.

I thought this tool was only used to keep torrented copies of Adobe hidden

@yo That's more or less correct. As in: *was* correct. Years ago, version 1ish. But Little Snitch has since evolved into being the ultimate firewall app for the Mac. It can do stuff no other firewall can do.

I don't know where I found out about Littlesnitch and Microsnitch but even though it's a security tool it's been one of the first things I recommend anyone to install on their mac. Quick summary of both. Also i'm just a user of their apps and have no affiliation with them. Littlesnitch = Networking Firewall Allows you to control data in/out from your Mac. Notifies you when apps are trying to get access to the net. Notifies you when IPs are you trying to connect to your mac. Microsnitch = Webcam & Audio Protection Notifies you when your Webcam or Mic are active. Keeps an activity log. +1 from me

I replaced it with Hands Off!, which is simpler and many a time more efficient. Perhaps now it's worth another go.. (scratch that: 25$ for an uprgrade. Nah)

Definitely an application everyone interested in more control about their internet privacy should install on their Mac. I used Little Snitch 4 and now the successor Little Snitch 5 every day. It's amazing to have full control about outgoing connections and so control about every tracking and analytics attempts going on.
