Komodo 2.0 is the fastest way to record your screen and create a step-by-step walkthrough, all at a 91% lower price compared to other tools. Komodo works natively on Mac or Windows, is fully bootstrapped, and built for reliability and speed first.
π Hey, Product Hunters! I'm Khanan, the founder of Komodo, and I'm so excited to debut Komodo 2.0 today.
Komodo is the fastest, most reliable, lightest weight way to record your screen or create a training guide.
Komodo has the best features of Loom, Scribe, and Descript at 91% lower cost. Previously you could only use our Chrome Extension to record, but that all changes today.
Now Komodo is available as a standalone desktop app for Mac and Windows. We rebuilt this from the ground up for speed, reliability, and simplicity.
But this is only the beginning. As a small, bootstrapped team, we're able to iterate much quicker than the bigger players in our space.
Here's some ideas we're looking to add into Komodo next:
- AI Generated Guides, Walkthroughs, and SOPs
- Komodo CoPilot, An intelligent screen recording assistant
- Knolwedge base search on all the recordings in a repository from yourself and your team
Thank you, @khanan_grauer1 and team! This is such a great product that keeps getting better! Your hard work shows! For those thinking about trying Komodo out - jump right in! You won't be disappointed!
Well done team, this is an amazing product and kudos to the team for putting this together. Comes very handy when we have to do a quick job around screen video recording and create a sleek light weight video around it. Super impressed and a great fan of your product now!
I've been a user of Komodo for about 18 months and have been extremely happy with the product and their consistent addition of new features. I'm excited for this release and a desktop app. Great work!
Congratulations on the launch of Komodo 2.0! @khanan_grauer1 This innovative tool offers the fastest way to record your screen and create interactive guides, all at a significantly lower price compared to other options. Excited to see how it empowers users to create step-by-step walkthroughs effortlessly. How does Komodo ensure reliability and speed while recording screens and creating guides? Can users expect seamless performance across different operating systems and devices?
Looking forward to exploring this impressive tool further!
@10xmarketer Thank you! We appreciate that. The performance can be experienced by trying out the product. The recorder aims to get out of the way. In terms of reliability, it's handled on both client and back-end to ensure the recording is successful. The client also creates temporary backups in case something fails as an extra measure.
An absolute gem of an app. I use it every day and it's such a joy to use it. It has replaced 3 different tools for me already.
Khanan (the dev) loves the product himself and his enthusiasm shows up in the speed and quality of development. He's been listening to the community and releasing amazing updates consistently.
Komodo is not just an alternative, it's better.
Congrats for the excellent product!
I'm a loom user looking for a more affordable alternative.
I'm unsure if the videos recorded in your FREE PLAN are publicly available by random people searching on the Komodo website.
Does Google index these?
Could someone who does not have the link to the video find them?
Keep up the good work!
I use Komodo. I used to use Loom, but I find Komodo is a much better experience for me. I consider this one of the essential tools I use to communicate to support desks (when things don't work as they should,) and also for my outsourcers on Upwork. The tracking that Komodo does naturally and email updates help keep everything on track.
If you need a screen recording software, you can't go wrong with Komodo!
Really great tool, it was fantastic when I first started to use it and it keeps getting better and better thanks to the team rolling out new updates. I recently spotted AI summarisation has been added, and it does a great job of pulling out key information.
Early days for the desktop version, looking forward to seeing what they come up with. On my wishlist would be to fit a recording to screen (with a nice background) and zoom effects, like Focusee or Screenrun.
I've used the tool with clients, with co-workers, to report software issues (so helpful to record a screen of a problem), and am now looking to make use of the guide building feature for a new project.
