Klip is here to turn this dating lottery into a fun predictable experience. Our story Klip was founded in 2016 after winning a Garage48 hackathon in Odessa, Ukraine. Already before that some of our team members had had problems with existing dating apps and lack of authenticity there. You couldn’t see the real person, but a bunch of well-chosen static photos and the users ended up being something totally different in real-life. To quote our developers, they said “on paper she was a 10, but ended up being as interesting as a wet carrot.” Yes, that’s a saying somewhere. So that’s why we decided to join the Garage48 hackathon with an idea to build a truly different dating app that would actually be close to what you experience when meeting up in person. Using video was a natural fit. And we hacked the hell out of the idea and took the 1st place. That’s how our journey began. Fast-forward to this date, we raised a small seed-round during summer 2016, put together the magical dating experienced team and set to work. Seriously, lots of dates under our belts. Today we’re ready to launch Klip, the video dating app for the young and brave - for those who think 5 year old photoshopped photos are a thing from the past. Based on positive early user feedback and traction we’re looking for more funding to launch in new markets and introduce new exciting features. Why Klip We believe a video says more than a 1000 images. We want you to see the real person, to experience the true emotions, the real smiles. You deserve to have an experience that’s the next best thing to meeting up in real life. That’s what Klip stands for and what we envision to be the future of dating. Klipping Most of the existing dating apps focus on either the discovery or interaction experience. Klip tries to innovate both of these. In Klip the discovery of people is built around video profiles. When registering an account Klip records your answers to 3 random questions and creates a 21sec profile video. You watch others’ profile videos and like those which seem interesting. In case of mutual likes you can start chatting or klipping. The latter is a fun way to see your match’s reactions to your messages – we’ll record a 7sec spontaneous video reaction – a klip – and will send it back to. That’s like talking to a person through live video chat but without the need to be online at the same time.
