ShotBox — ShotBox lets you easily markup screenshots as you take them!

ShotBox is a fantastic little utility that pops up when you take a screenshot, allowing you to quickly preview your screenshot, mark it up, and then drag it into other apps!

Great app. This eliminates editing apps like skitch, snagit etc. in a very straight forward and user friendly solution. ( I'd expect apple to build it into mac os), great idea. I had a question though, Can I not change the location of my screenshot once I set it at first. I've tried doing this and it seems like there's no way out. Even if I uninstall / install the app, it'll always revet to that initial location i picked when i started the app.

Hi everyone, I'm the maker of ShotBox – if you have any questions, feature requests of bug reports please feel free to post them here! ☺️

@joshparnham I love it! Ever single Apple created "Markup" I've hoped someone would build an app that allowed simple markup of screenshots.

@ryan_roberts1 Thanks mate! I completely agree – when I saw the iOS 11 beta I thought it just made perfect sense to integrate with ☺️

@joshparnham Loving it so far! Very handy tool. Got two questions: would it be possible to autosave a screenshot when no edit is needed (much like the iOS 11 behaviour) and can you add a function to markup a screenshot by dragging it on top of the Manu bar icon?
Roulse
@joshparnham any chance of making it into an IPhone app too?
Josh Parnham
@t55 Would you be able to clarify what you mean by "autosave"? The screenshots are currently saved to the desktop and you can close ShotBox and select "Save" to keep them. I'm also working on some features now so that you can close the window quicker and have it automatically save the screenshot without needing to press "Save" ☺️ I'll also look into whether I could support screenshots being dragged onto the menu bar icon – great suggestion!

Oh this is great! Simple, but super super handy to have!

@chrishannah Super glad to hear you like it - hopeful will have more features coming very soon! ☺️

Doesn't work for me :( Installed it and used both commands. The screenshots are instantly saved to the desktop but no window pop up. Tried several times, restarted the app. Anything I can do? thanks! :)
Josh Parnham
@justin_schueler I'm sorry to hear that mate! Did you see the window asking you to grant access to your Desktop folder when you first opened the app? (ShotBox needs to be able to access the Desktop through the macOS sandbox )
Chris Truman
@justin_schueler @joshparnham Need to be able to change folder afterwards. I forgot dropbox moves my screenshots into its own folder.
Josh Parnham
@justin_schueler @iamchristruman Unfortunately that didn't make it into the v1.0 but it's definitely coming! In the meantime you can run `defaults delete com.joshparnham.ShotBox` in your Terminal and relaunch the app for it to prompt you again for your screenshots path. Proper ability to change your screenshot path in the UI is coming soon 👍

Didn’t realise how much I needed this until I found it - nice work! 🙏

At least "+1" for being native!

@inlinecoder Native Mac apps for the win ✊

Nice little time saver. On average I take 15 screenshots a day and this has cut down on the number of mouse clicks considerably. Well done!

Nice app! Would kill for a Windows 10 release :)

@mellamoosiris Unfortunately I'm not a Windows developer, but do need to use it at work so hopefully will be available one day!
