When I first explored product launch pages, I was confused by terms like "hunter," "maker," and "hunting." After some research, I found it helpful to think of these terms in relation to common forum terms:
Hunt = Submit a post
Hunter = Poster (i.e. OP or original poster)
Maker = People who contribute to a product (Hunter can invite anyone as "Maker" though)
This makes things easier to understand. Since anyone can post about any product, the person who posts it is the hunter (or poster), and they don’t have to be the maker of the product. If makers post the product themselves, they can be both the maker and the hunter.
As for
K icon, I think it stands for karma, similar to Reddit, as they are both related to YC "kitty icons" thanks to
@n_demia.
I hope this helps other newbies!
