Two years!
When Terry and I launched Intellifluence two years ago on Product Hunt we had some idea of what it would become, but it has evolved in such a rewarding way. I recall vividly taking in all the feedback we received, looking at the product roadmap we already had, and thinking we could knock all out in a matter of weeks and vowed to grow my beard until we did. I was so wrong.
A year later I engaged Ryan over email to ask his thoughts on relaunches since we had already changed so much and his advice was to create a new listing when we thought it was special; payments is what I really wanted and is something we absolutely wanted to get right, so I waited. To nail it we had to change everything about our system and re-architect it. But we did it after another year of toiling, and I am very excited to share it with you all. I was also excited that I no longer have a sweaty beard in this Arizona summer.
What is Intellifluence Payments?
It is a massive risk reduction that's specific to how we work. Intellifluence is a warm contact network, meaning that everyone in our network has specifically signed up to be there (not some scraped email database claiming to be an influencer network or an agency in disguise); as of typing this, that'd be ~33,000 influencers and ~2,500 brands. Warm networks are able to reduce transaction risk simply by getting everyone to follow the same set of rules because they have an incentivization to want to remain in the network.
Layered onto the warm network is the special piece. We're able to nearly eliminate the financial risk on dual sided transactions with the new Payments rollout because we removed the fear of fair trading. Paying upfront for a review is what every influencer wants, but a certain percentage takes the money and runs...or at a minimum has difficulty completing for whatever reason; likewise all brands would rather pay at the completion of a transaction, but not everyone pays like they say they will. What we've done is develop a crediting system that requires brands to provide a proof of funds specific to the influencer they want to pitch, providing influencers comfort knowing that all financial transactions are backed by the Intellifluence Promise; brands love it because they don't lose out on lost monies -- no payment is made until the transactional activity is completed.
There's a ridiculous amount of other improvements that have come over the last 2 years: talent agency support, inbound and outbound campaigns, offer syndication, dedicated support...it's easier to just test it all for yourself.
