We use imigix at Product Hunt. How does this compare/differ?
Rahul Nanwani
@rrhoover Thanks for the question. Perhaps an example can illustrate the difference in the core ideology Your current URL https://ph-files.imgix.net/aa0ad... Possible URL with ImageKit (much shorter, easier for anyone to read, smaller image content size and lesser number of bytes in your HTML) https://ik.imagekit.io/demo/ph/t... The complexities around different options for image optimization, while controllable, are abstracted away from the developer. Most of them are taken care of by ImageKit based on best practices. The main idea is that one should not have to go through extensive documentation to make full use of the product which is the basic purpose for using a 3rd party service. And yes, a simple pricing model based only on the bandwidth. No restrictions on master images or transforms that allow you to make full use of the product without worrying about costs. And a better CDN for countries like India :)
Rahul Nanwani
@pierrick22 Would love to know your use case and see if we can make our offering better for you :)

@manu_chaudhary What security measures are in place to protect against file tampering and such? Thanks!
Manu Chaudhary
@kkdub Great question! We provide a method called image signature. Using this you can ensure that a random third-party cannot alter your image URLs for their use. You restrict the image use this way. Especially useful if you are watermarking the images. Also, the image uploads too are protected via secret keys that are known only to you. We have also written a blog post about this https://imagekit.io/blog/reduce-...
Rahul Nanwani
@deambulando Thank you for sharing these great tools with everyone. Indeed they would work well for someone just starting out. We are planning to launch a similar free offering for WordPress sites to begin with and then move on to other platforms, while keeping the premium features like tighter, simpler integrations with existing infrastructure, intelligent optimization features, global backup image storages on the paid plans.

Effortlessly switched from our in-house image resizing solution to ImageKit. It helped make our web pages load faster on different devices and simplified our image workflow. It also helped us reduce CDN cost by a good margin!

Pros:

Ease-of-use, simple and affordable pricing, Seamless integration, reliable and good image optimization.

Cons:

None so far.

Ernesto Cohnen

The team was really supportive and their tool is great and simple to integrate on any e-commerce site. They support out of the box Magento, Wordpress and others.

Pros:

Price, simplicity to setup, support and real time transformations

Cons:

No video support

@cohnen Very cool service ImageKit.io. Of course it's sad that they do not support video, but in my opinion it will greatly help many forums and sites with a lot of pictures. True, there is still a problem that some pictures are stretched and do not look very good. I found a service that can increase or decrease the size of the image while maintaining good quality. In my opinion, they even use a special AI which, in addition, learns itself and everything happens almost instantly. Do you think it is possible to combine this online service and ImageKit.io for the highest quality result? It might be a stupid idea, but still.
Ernesto Cohnen
Amazing product! Really simple to integrate with your current image solution and a must at their current price. Sometimes we don't think on images delivery performance, but it is critical for any e-commerce site. Thanks for the free credits ;)
Rahul Nanwani
@cohnen You are right! Image optimization is the most ignored performance optimization perhaps! We look to make it even more economical in the future :)
rajnishkumar
Nice product. I like the fact that the integration is totally effortless - big differentiator.
Rahul Nanwani
@rajnishkumar Thank you for your feedback! Easy integration is indeed one of our main goals. Developer's time is often the biggest cost while integrating 3rd party tools.

I can recommend ImageKit that I've been using for a couple of months (I guess I'm one of the first users). It makes slightly smaller images than Google's image optimiser without adding noticable visual noise. This is still an early product and I'm sure they going to support better the enterprise-y features such as signed repos, custom storage and distribution (Big Shots usually have their own CDN), batch processing and support for videos. Anyway, it is quite handy already, especially if you don't have a strong oppinion how the images need to be delivered / processed.

Pros:

Massive reduce in size

Cons:

No video yet, batch conversion, other formats, fine-tuning

Olivier Hamel
Crowded space you are in :) Haven't had a chance to test yet, but how do you differentiate yourself from the big players out there like Cloudinary, Imgix or Kraken?
Rahul Nanwani
@prodibi_olivier A crowded space it is! But if you look at the unoptimized websites and apps and the problems they face, may be not :) Both the products that you mention are great, no doubt, but as I mentioned in the first comment, like a lot of other tools, they prove to be expensive, especially for companies that already serve a hundred million plus images every month. Not just in terms of the dollars involved but in the effort involved in migrating from your internal image management solution to a third-party solution. And then come the different plan limits like master images, the number of transformations one can do in a month etc. which quickly become confusing for developers to control and costs go really high. Image optimization is a basic requirement now. It should be very simple and affordable to use it. And that is the basic idea where ImageKit is different now and will be in the future. Even the best of the features like face detection, auto quality etc, if essential, should be easily available. We have started with this aim and tried to create a product that can be integrated in minutes no matter how big or small your website or app is. Since we are serving the images, we know what the image is, what the user's device is, we take it on us to deliver the best image every time automatically and do not expect the developer to read our documentation and pick the parameters for best optimization As a result, any company that comes on board with us gets 30-40% performance benefit (page size reduction) in just 5-10 minutes of effort, often without even changing the image URLs, that translates to lower costs for them instead of higher costs associated with third party tools. Hope that gives you an idea of how we plan to build the product in the future! Would really like if you try out ImageKit and share your feedback with us! Cheers!
Olivier Hamel
@rnanwani That's all good, and yes, I agree with you the market size is absolutely massive and there is a lot of space for new entrants. Good luck, I will try when I have a bit of time!
Rahul Nanwani
@prodibi_olivier Thanks! Will checkout Prodibi as well. Looks interesting
Matthew Boogaard
I can't find any information on your Magento plugin that you mention.
Rahul Nanwani
@boogsau Hi Matthew. Sorry, we do not have a set documentation for Magento yet. But the integration steps are similar to that of setting up ImageKit with an HTTP Server. Just at the very end, where it talks about changing the image URL in your code, in Magento, you would make that change in the base media URL setting in the admin panel. You can drop us an email on developer@imagekit.io for more help.
Steven Jacobs
Just installed on my website here and already impressed with the ease of setup and how quickly it went live for all of my images.
Rahul Nanwani
@stevenjacobs_ Thanks a lot for sharing this with everyone :). Look forward to getting more feedback about the product from you

Also check out the website analyzer for a much detailed information about the image performance on your webpage - https://imagekit.io/website-anal...
Rahul Nanwani
@cohnen We are going to launch a version 2.0 for the website analyzer. More detailed analysis.

I have been looking for a simpler solution for handling the images on my client's photography website. Cloudinary is costly to begin with and I wasn't sure if it would be easy to migrate out of to a new service once I do find one. Came across this just in the nick of time.

Pros:

Easy Migration and simple to setup, Focus on image load performance, Limitless plan is a big plus (no scalability headaches to worry about)

Cons:

Going through a 30-day trail, will update later

Gaurav Arora

Wordpress integration is really easy, its a plug and play Wordpress plugin. Overall I felt setup is very easy, it took me maximum of 10minutes to serve compressed images on my website that too from a CDN. I have tried using cloudinary in past, their integration is pretty difficult, not meant for everyone. Also for image heavy website like mine gtmetrix performance score improved instantly.

Pros:

Easy Wordpress Integration, Pricing

Cons:

Just signed up, will update later

Somya
Really a very useful product just a quick question Can I make it work with my existing image server?
Rahul Nanwani
@sbsomya Yes. ImageKit can work with any server or storage that allows access to the images over HTTP. You can add your existing image server as an image source in ImageKit. All your images will then become accessible via ImageKit and can be optimized or transformed instantly.
Rahul Nanwani
NEW UPDATES AND FEATURES - Core processing servers in 4 regions (Singapore, Germany, US and Australia) - Automatic lighter & responsive images using client hints (https://goo.gl/aQBJYd) - SVG image optimizations (https://goo.gl/YpHwnN) Hello PH users! We have been helping companies at all scales to manage their images infrastructure for the last few months. Really excited to be hunted on ProductHunt! Thanks Kevin Whether it is e-commerce, travel, fashion websites or content blogs, good quality images add to a great user experience, improve customer retention and drive up sales. But, good quality images come at a cost i.e. their huge size. Heavy images on a slow network can destroy the entire experience and impact your revenues. ImageKit.io was built with the aim to make image optimization and transformation dead simple and economical. Unlike the current set of third-party tools, ImageKit works in real-time, doesn’t require any changes to a company’s current infrastructure, is very economical even at scale (we have custom pricing plans as well) and doesn’t require a developer to go through pages of documentation to optimize images. 5-minute integrations with popular platforms like AWS S3, an HTTP server, Wordpress, Shopify, Magento etc. make it easy to switch to ImageKit even if you have millions of images. Just change the image URLs on your website or app to serve images via ImageKit. Images will be optimized for delivery in real-time and you get the ability to resize and crop the images directly from the URL. With ImageKit.io, you get features like - Automatic image optimization (gives an instant 30%+ performance boost to your application, no need to go through extensive documentation) - Real-time URL-based resizing, cropping and other transformations - Smart cropping that automatically focuses on the most important part of an image - Device-based image size restrictions, - GIF optimization - Automatic WebP support - Automatic PNG image optimization. - CloudFront CDN (can be integrated with your existing CDN as well) - Practically unlimited storage, if you use it fairly :) - Website analyzer specifically for image optimization Almost no code changes (at times just a DNS change!!), automatic image optimization that gives 30%+ performance boost, simple transformations and a pay-as-you-go pricing model that reduces infrastructure costs, makes ImageKit a favourite with companies to manage their images. Do try out the product and share your feedback with us! Use the promo code "phhunt20" while signing up to get $20 in ImageKit credits. Look forward to your feedback! Cheers!
Dhruv Bhatia

Smart Crop is a fantastic feature that intelligently focuses on the best parts of every cropped image. If you have an image that contains important pixels close to the edges, you will lose these with normal cropping, but not with Smart Crop. I have tried it with quite a few images, and I have not been disappointed even once. It's a great value add!

Pros:

A very useful product, helpful team, and great pricing

Cons:

More features on the dashboard, and enabling optimisation of images from the dashboard as well.

Suyash Katyayani

ImageKit has made real-time image manupulation, optimization and resizing across devices really easy. Its an out of the box plug & play offering with minimal changes in existing infrastructure. And Yes, Your images stay where they are!

Pros:

Real-time Image manipulation, image optimization

Cons:

Cloudinary has a similar offering but they are very expensive

Albert Klausevits
It's a good solution for handling the images
Manu Chaudhary
@albertklausevits Hey Albert, thanks for your feedback. Do share your use case around images and how you plan to leverage ImageKit, it will help other people in the community and improve the product.
Mohsen Seifi

I think imagekit is one of the best CDN and image cloud service providers. But as the world is going, Imagekit needs to add more features to offer.

Pros:

All platform support, cool features, good product support, files support

Cons:

cloudinary offers the same
