Reviews so easy they write themselves ✨
Great 1:1s have always lead to surprise-free performance reviews. Starting today they mean work-free performance reviews.
Hypercontext automatically generates performance reviews from your 1:1 notes & goals updates
Hey PH 👋,
Brennan here (co-founder). So excited to finally launch this.
Let's be honest: traditional performance management tools are a nightmare. They're clunky, outdated, and completely disconnected from the real work that people do every day.
We've all spent hours ticking boxes and filling out forms, instead of actually managing our teams and work. And worst of all, they're often a source of anxiety and dread, rather than a chance to reflect on achievements and set goals. By the end of a performance season we're all left feeling demoralized and disconnected, with no sense of purpose or direction.
Instead of building the same thing over and over again with a pretter ui... We decided to do something _completely_ different.
We built our whole product around the manager.
It all starts with a world-class meeting notes app that's been fine-tuned to be the best app for 1:1 meetings. We've prioritized everything managers need to actually _want_ to use us every day.
Goal updates are then added to the agenda, so they happen in the flow of meetings. Not only increasing the odds of you hitting them but gathering more performance data.
Then comes the magic ✨. With 26 weeks of 1:1 and goal data, we can actually generate a great self or performance review in seconds (instead of weeks).
We think it's game changing.
Excited to hear your thoughts.
@i_am_brennan we’ve launched some pretty incredible tools over the years for first time managers, experienced leaders, employees, and company leaders and this launch is the one I’m most exited to get into people’s hands.
Like you said, this new product feature set is the magic that you basically get for free, after having great one-on-one, team meetings and goal checkins.
Put in the work, document what you do, and the end of yea, the performance review you get for free. It’s incredibly powerful, and fully embodies our unique approach to helping companies become performance oriented, without the busy admin work.
☺️
Love the idea! While I've never written long-form performance reviews I do write many employer references and I hate it. Take so much time. Any plans in expanding the feature to include employer reference letters too?
@carlobadini Great idea. Actually, by just tweaking the template we're using for the review, I'm sure this would create a great reference letter with very little extra work. We'll definitely go there if customers take us there.
But I think you get the broader point. As an organization, we're dedicated to helping managers, ergo we asked ourselves how can we make _this_ process 1000x better? Once we do, it'll be on to the next one.
@carlobadini@i_am_brennan That's an interesting idea, and as brennan mention, would only be a tweak in the prompting messages used to to create the reviews. This is just the beginning of this very powerful feature offering and if customer's want it, we'll build it out 😃
This is a great idea - it can be tough to go through a bunch of old 1:1s and notes to formulate reviews. Almost nobody likes doing these because of that. Is there anything in this that will help people manage their 1:1s better as well?
@pmn There sure is. That is where we started - helping managers make their 1:1's better. It is how most people start with us. We have templates, suggested questions, insights and a whole bunch of integrations to help guide managers towards high quality conversation. Shared agendas, ease of note taking, next steps, automated notes etcetera make it an easy habit to build.
This is awesome! Gonna try this out with our team :) Quick question, is there a way to notify the system that the review was on the mark / off the mark? Would be super helpful to guide it to improve!
I really like this @i_am_brennan. Having done more performance management reviews than you could shake a salami sandwich at, this would have made my life a whole lot easier. Good pricing too. Definitely my next try out!
I genuinely use Hypercontext for my weekly 1:1's so seeing this feature launched is so amazing and adds a lot of depth to an already fantastic app! Keep up the good work!
As a CEO, I've always believed if you do incremental feedback and improvements properly reviews are an output of that vs an input for another process. This looks to easily operationalize that philosophy, excited to try it!
Love it! In my past life I would comb through months of my Gdrive to find things that I’ve worked on to present in reviews. Then I needed to write enough to demonstrate what I was able to accomplish. I dreaded it. You’ll honestly be saving me at least dozens of hours.
Great work team!
Love this! Hypercontext has been very helpful in coordinating and organizing 1:1s across my team.
My secret, something I have done from very early on in my career, is to create a running list throughout the year of what I did, so come review time I can jot down a comprehensive picture, rather than just what I could remember from the last few months.
Great use of AI to make this concept 10x easier for me!
@dave_rigotti1 What's also nice about this, is it pushes your directs to contribute that list/those wins to their 1:1 agenda. As, if it's in there the AI will remember it (even if the manager doesn't)
Thanks for your support 😀
This is amazing!! Performance reviews are so important for both managers and team members to be effective and grow, but they are SOOO time consuming. This is a huge innovation.
Really excited to pull AI into reviews - I definitely don't find that process "fun" in any sense of the word. Combined with the usefulness of Hypercontext, this will only further cement our use of the tool!
@austinmey Thanks for sharing! Hopefully you find it more of a fun process in the future with Hypercontext. If there is anything else you wish Hypercontext did for you, let us know and we'll get it built in. 😊
Just about everyone I know dreads performance review time. As a manager of a smaller team, I'm no exception. Between maintaining an accurate view of my team's delivery and accomplishments and providing my own summarized view of the impact my team and I have had on the organization, we're talking _hours_ of sunk time.
Every member of my team has a 1:1 Hypercontext workspace where we track goals, challenges, and key events throughout the year. This feature is exactly the sort of thing that changes holistic experiences across an organization... enough to shift *perspectives* and turn review time into something less dreadful! :D
