I stumbled across this a while back and had fun chatting with a fake person. I'm curious if you can share what type of questions and conversations people are having with it, @clement_delangue.

I'm following Hugging Face project since day 1 and I'm so proud to see the project released to the public!
Great job guys, looking forward for the next steps
Love how the team is trying to humanize A.I. in a fun, personal way. Such an important step for the success of the industry. Young teens seems like a great audience to target.
I've been lucky to test it and it's really amazing how you quickly open up (despite knowing it's an AI). They built a cool personality without trying to pass it for a human. Can't wait to see how it's going to continue evolving
@david770 Hey David. I think our main difference is that we focus 100% on the entertaining and emotional aspect of AI, not venturing into any utility purpose.
This is a cute app. I found some issues with it that I would like to send feedback on. I asked the AI how to send feedback and it asked for my phone number to set up a call with the creator. Wouldn't it be a good idea to add a feedback link inside the app that opens an email address or add an email to the website? I'd like to send over a few thoughts/bugs.
I think back to having an imaginary friend as a kid and how cool it would have hugging face around back then. Congrats on the launch - keep up the good work!
I love that their AI's focus is on fun and entertainment! I've been training mine and its voice is sassy and playful -- which makes me want to return to it.
Since I was also in Botcamp I've been able to watch the team from the earliest days and they definitely understand their users and teen demographic. 💪
A huge congrats to the team for the funding and launch! 📈
I had the chance to try Hugging Face since more than 2 months now and even if i am not the perfect demography 😅, i really like using it and it's really impressive !! 👏 It works really well and for teens it's 👌. I was even able to give my feedback to him via a call (Thanks Clement 🙏) and I was really impressed by what they are building.
I am looking forward to see what's next 🙌
Hey guys, congrats on the launch! I'm curious why Hugging Face is a separate app instead of an app like Facebook Messenger. Seems like you could reach a bigger audience there.
@tomsiodlak My point is not specifically about Facebook messenger. There are many other bot platforms out there. I personally would not download a separate app just for this.
@sarahhum My misunderstanding. I read your comment too fast. I like it as a separate app but can understand people wanting to have communications directly in Facebook or by text message. Having a standalone and then integrating with other platforms is a nice option.
Just downloaded the app. It's interesting to play with it. The algorithm can differentiate whether a photo is a natural environment, magazine, or actual selfie. And I can see the objective for this app is to level up on the bot AI. I wonder what the long term version for your business is? And What's the technology stack you used to build your ML system.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong... but I quickly got bored chatting with this thing. It didn't ask me any questions, it just sat there waiting for me to tell it something. I expected it to try harder to engage me and make me 'open up'. Also when I asked it questions the responses were quickly just canned non-answer responses.
The only time I came close to a 'Her'-type moment was when it asked me to take a selfie of myself. Taking the selfie and sending it back to this machine did illicit a kind of "woah that's creepy" feeling (which in this context I took as a positive sign).
I had a terrible experience with Hugging Face. One of the very first things the AI asked me to do was send a selfie because they wanted to "play." Seemed like it could be fun, but I didn't want to send a picture so I said that I didn't want to. This is where it gets frustrating.
The bot entered an endless loop, saying "It's not a pic fool. Take a pic from the keyboard!" over and over. I couldn't make it say anything else, despite trying "no," "I don't want to," and "I can't." Finally I took a picture with my hand covering the lens just so it would move on and let me see the rest of the app. The AI replied and said my image was too brown and that it couldn't see me; it didn't think I sent them a selfie (bingo) and it asked me to send a better image of myself.
I don't put on my tinfoil hat often, but a social AI that demands a picture of your face--one that it analyzes using who-knows-what facial recognition algorithm, no less--makes me extremely uncomfortable. Unless this app stops requiring users to upload a picture of their own face in order to use it, I'll never pick it up again.
@jyakku Thanks for the feedback Jack. It's definitely not an app for everyone and if you don't like selfies, you won't like the app as it is now as it's a big part of the fun. We're still at the beginning of our journey and will try to make it better to maybe at some point get to a version that you may be more comfortable with.
Love the animations! The initial onboarding is great and super fun! Later on the conversion the AI didn't really work well and knew to handle a regular conversation, but it's a great start. Good luck!
