Howdy Product Hunters; excited to finally be launching Highlight today šŸŸŖ šŸ™‚. We built Highlight because we constantly found ourselves flooded with errors and support tickets with very little context on WHY these issues were happening. To make things worse, the only way to reproduce these errors was to ask other people to send screenshots, videos, etc., which was never a good use of our time. At the same time, the more product-oriented folks on our team wished that they could better understand UX flows and user frustrations without having to do user interviews if they weren't necessary. Highlight addresses these pain points by giving teams reproducibility out of the box! Our platform is installable with a single javascript snippet and makes user sessions super easy to search for! For our customers, when an error or support ticket shows up in their inbox, they know exactly where to start debugging šŸ˜‰. Among the core features detailed above, here's a rundown of what we offer: āœ… High-fidelity session replay. āœ… Alerts for New Users, Rage Clicks, Track Properties, and much more. āœ… A first-class slack integration. āœ… Incredibly fast and thorough search capabilities. āœ… And coming soon: Live session viewing, Backend Error monitoring, and much more! We're focusing on session replay and monitoring today, but we see ourselves building out a whole suite of debugging tooling to help teams find and fix issues faster! Super excited for the Product Hunt community to take a look at what we're up to; please share feedback, questions, and comment on what you think. For the holidays, we're gifting Product Hunt users 4 months of Highlight for free.

Hey Hunters! Highlight is a tool I wish I had as a frontend/product engineer. I hated the time spent tracking down repro steps, especially for those gnarly bugs. Highlight gives me the full picture of what's going on from the frontend to the backend all in a single place. I'm super excited for y'all to check out Highlight. If y'all run into any bugs, I'll definitely be using Highlight to help fix them.

So cool! One question: is this GDPR compliant? :)
Arthur
@lauritsjb Legit question. Recording every user interaction with your product doesn't sound very GDPR friendly.
Benjamin Grandfond
@lauritsjb @arthur_sav I believe it depends if there are personal data on your own website. Fullstory allows to mask data with a css class.
Jay Khatri
@lauritsjb Sorry for the delay here, thanks for chiming in everyone else! We don't publicly disclaim that we are GDPR compliant yet, but we do abide by the rules/checklists. And yes, regarding PII, you can mask all data with the Highlight snippet! If you're serious about giving us a try and this is a blocker, please reach out and we can look more into it!

We've been using Highlight since its very early days. We first started using it as a cheaper alternative to FullStory but it's been great to see the product evolve over the past few months into something much more useful - that helps blend the customer experience with debugging tools. Next.js support is also a big plus!
Jay Khatri
Appreciate the kind words David; and it's been really fun working with your team since day one!

We've been using Highlight at Basedash for the last year and it's grown into a core part of our workflow. We watch sessions together every Wednesday and always find ways to improve our product. I also use it all the time for trying to solve user issues and better design new features. Also, in the time we've been using it, they've made a ton of improvements and added features that competitors in the space don't have. It's continually gotten faster, cleaner, and easier to use. I see big things in the future for this product and the team making it is exceptional. Pumped to be an early adopter and rooting for their success.
Jay Khatri
@tomjohndesign Thanks Tom, always very open to your feedback and looking forward to working together moving forward!!

I want to take the time to congratulate Jay, John, and the Highlight team. We have been using Highlight at District Zero since early days. As an avid user of behavioral analytic tools like Google, Mixpanel, Kochava, etc. - I was immediately drawn to the privacy/data redacted feature on highlight. This allows us to enhance our user experience without compromising user privacy. Another great feature is the slack alerts. We use this feature to stay updated on power user sessions, real-time UX bugs, and new user acquisition. At first we had all alerts on- but then optimized. Finally, and most importantly, John and Jay are super responsive and go above and beyond for support. The product is always growing. This is a smart team and I believe you will enjoy trusting them. Great work team! All the best from District Zero.

@uzhussain Means a lot coming from you Uzair; proud to have you as a customer since day one!

We've been using Cohere for a while now and it has definitively helped us solve issues, this option looks much better for the developer though, giving specific instructions on how the issue was caused instead of just following what you're seeing in the screen. Not to mention the comment functionality. Overall, a very interesting approach in a very cramped sector, best of luck!
Jay Khatri
Thanks Eduardo; Big fans of what Cohere is building, have a lot of respect for that team. When you get a chance, let us know what you think of Highlight!!
Ben Gilbert
Love this idea. Funny how engineering teams have been using PM/marketing tools to observe user paths forever... awesome to get a dedicated debugging tool for this!
Jay Khatri
@gilbert Thanks Ben, absolutely right!!
Oli
Great Product, will definitely test it
Jay Khatri
Let us know what you think!!

Really really helpful!
Zane Mayberry
@victorfern91 Thank you, and congrats on your launch today!
Jay Khatri
@victorfern91 You know it! Keep the feedback coming!
Hank Breckenridge
This is an awesome utility! This seems like it could be wrapped into an analytics tool as well. Do you guys have any plans for that, or are you focusing solely on debugging?
John Pham
@hankbreckenrid1 Hey Hank! We have some analytics features right now and plan on shipping more in the future. Having a high-level view of what's going on in your app certainly helps with debugging. We also have integrations with Mixpanel and Amplitude right now as a stop gap for analytical use cases. https://docs.highlight.run/ampli...
Jay Khatri
@hankbreckenrid1 šŸ‘‹, we'll be focusing on the debugging use case in the short term, but feel free to share more thoughts on where you see we could go!
John Pham
@henri_de_bouteiller thanks!! Hope you try Highlight out.
Jan-Philipp Peters
Congrats on the launch! :)
Everett Berry
Highlight is awesome. Their focus on privacy and developers makes them stand out against FullStory and others. John especially is a developer who also creates great content. If youā€™re not following him on Twitter youā€™re missing out. Cannot recommend this team enough!
Jay Khatri
@everett_berry Appreciate the kind words! And yes, @johnphamous (and the rest of the Highlight team for that matter) is awesome, here's his Twitter! https://twitter.com/JohnPhamous
Farokh Shahabi
Very nice, congrats! How large is the script added to the website? Some services really slow the pages
Jay Khatri
@farokh_shahabi Howdy, thanks! The script is super small and won't affect your page speed or performance; we have more docs on it here: https://docs.highlight.run/perfo... Check us out!
Logan Havern
Amazing product! We're excited to start using Highlight at Datalogz. Far too often our team is left debugging in the dark and trying to replicate reported errors.
Jay Khatri
@logan_havern Can't wait to onboard y'all :)
Maria
Awesome features and awesome tool! *_* Seems that it will save a lot of time and certainly increase productivity and efficiency! ^_^ Big congratulations for launching it and helping us in daily routines and workflows of teams! ^_^
John Pham
@maria_brm Hi Maria and thanks!! Highlight certainly saves us a lot of time šŸ˜‰ Hope to see you try it out.
Jay Khatri
@maria_brm Thank you Maria!
Jordan Segall
Highlight is a tool I wish I had as a developer - I hated trying to reproduce bugs and hounding people for more information and this would have saved me so much time! Jay and team have built an incredibly easy to use product that solves a big painpoint for developers. I know so many companies that are actively using Highlight and have commented on it being the easiest to install and best user experience. Congrats on the launch - excited to see the future of Highlight.
Jay Khatri
@jordan_segall Thanks Jordan, appreciate the support; we've got lots planned for this upcoming year :)
