Hi ProductHunt πŸ‘‹, I'm Dave, and I'm thrilled to introduce the world to Hi.Events, an open-source event management and ticket-selling platform. I created Hi.Events because there are very few modern, open-source ticketing platforms, and many SaaS ticketing applications charge outrageous fees. My goal is to offer a more affordable and flexible solution for event organizers through an open-source platform. Whether you're hosting a conference or a yoga class, Hi.Events has all the features you need to run a successful and stress-free event. Some of the features include:
  • Embeddable Ticket Widgets: Use our "Widget Designer" tool to create embeddable widgets that perfectly match your brand. 🎨
  • Beautiful Event Homepages: Create captivating event pages with a variety of customization options to showcase your event in the best light. ✨
  • Intuitive Check-In Tools: Streamline the check-in process to ensure quick and efficient entry for attendees. No need to download a separate check-in app; we've created a mobile and web check-in tool. πŸ“±
  • Event Messaging Tools: Keep your attendees informed and engaged by sending updates, announcements, and reminders, all within Hi.Events. πŸ“£
  • Custom Order Forms: Tailor the registration process to suit your event needs. From dietary preferences to T-shirt sizes, you can ask your attendees anything during checkout. πŸ“
  • Multiple Ticket Types: Offer a variety of ticket options, including donations, free tickets, and tiered pricing. 🎟️
  • Event Analytics: Gain valuable insights into your event's performance, track ticket sales, and more. πŸ“Š
  • Versatile Promo Codes: Boost ticket sales with discounts, presale access, and hidden tickets. πŸ’Έ

And there's so much more! From Stripe integration and instant payouts to role-based access and offline event tools, Hi.Events is designed to make your event management experience as smooth as possible. πŸ’†β€

We will also be introducing a cloud-based version in the very near future. ☁️

You can check out the GitHub here: https://github.com/HiEventsDev/hi.events (A star would be much appreciated ⭐️). And our website is https://hi.events

I'm more than happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for taking the time to look πŸ˜„

Edit: Also, we'd love if you could follow our journey on X. Thank you!

@dave_earley1 Well done on the launch! Wishing you continued success and growth. How did you come up with the idea?
Dave Earley
Thanks @kjosephabraham! I previously worked in events where there was a need for a flexible open-source ticketing solution, and the options were lacking unfortunately. So I decided to create a solution.
Eithiriel DeMerè
@zzz_damo Great timing. I've been seeking alternatives! 🩷 Do you offer ticket sales in which your platform simply takes a cut of the our ticket sales or do we need to pay for a subscription? I've been very interested in finding options for the former. (Or even a platform that offers both options!) Btw, love the logo. Thank you!
Dave Earley
Thanks @nikkielizdemere! For self-hosting, Hi.Events allows you to take a customizable commission from each ticket sold. For the upcoming cloud offering, we haven't finalized the pricing model yet, but we're committed to ensuring it's fair and affordable.
Stefans Keiss
Hi Dave, the embeddable ticket widgets seem pretty versatile. Could you explain more about the customization options available for these widgets?
Dave Earley
@memphys_sk Sure! Currently, we support changing everything from the button text to the background color and language. We provide HTML you can easily copy and paste into your HTML or React website. In the future, we'll have even more customization options related to layout, etc.
Andreas Sohns
This is exactly what event organizers need. The embeddable ticket widget, custom event pages and easy check-in tools are fantastic.
Dave Earley
Thanks for checking it out @andreas_sohns! We hope the customisation options make it stand out from other ticketing applications.
Kyrylo Silin
Hi Dave, Hi.Events sounds like a fantastic alternative to the big names in event management! I’m especially interested in the embeddable ticket widgets and the versatile promo codes. Can you share a bit more about how the analytics feature works and what kind of insights it provides? Also, any plans to integrate with other payment platforms besides Stripe in the future? Congrats on the launch!
Kyrylo Silin
Also, do you have an X? I would love to support your launch there!
Dave Earley
Thanks! @kyrylosilin appreciate you checking it out! For analytics, we provide real-time information about total sales, total tax, total service fees, unique visitor count, and total homepage views. And yes! We do plan to integrate with other payment platforms in the future. We know Stripe isn't supported everywhere, so we're currently looking at payment options that would allow us to support more countries.
Dave Earley
@kyrylosilin Whoops! forgot to link it 😁 It's https://x.com/HiEventsTickets. We'd love if you'd follow us

Love the addition of glasshole kitty in the video, haha.

Gilson Gilbert
It is great to see such a platform built in open source. And as it says, I'm also looking forward to the cloud version. Congratulations on the launch πŸš€
Dave Earley
Thanks @gilzon_me! We're hoping to have a cloud version soon! We need to make sure it's as bug-free as possible first πŸ›
jusiy Waller
The no service fees aspect is a game-changer, making it accessible for small event organizers.
Dave Earley
Thanks @jusiy_waller! That's the plan! We'd love to see event organizers be able to host events without paying crazy service fees πŸ’Έ
Rully Ardiansyah
such a cool software, will try to self-hosted myself
Dave Earley
@devoresyah Nice! Appreciate you checking it out! 😊
AndrΓ© J
What's the motivation behind making it open-source?
Dave Earley
@sentry_co I've worked on events in the past, and there was no modern open-source ticketing platform, so I decided to build one. I'm hoping making it open-source gives smaller organizers an opportunity to sell tickets without having to pay crazy fees.
AndrΓ© J
@dave_earley1 Competition is always nice! Hopefully someone will do what you're doing for ticketing for hotels and flight tickets as well. This area could use some disruption as well 😸
Audrey Jake
I think adding a mobile app could significantly improve user accessibility and convenience.
Dave Earley
@audrey_jake1 We'll definitely consider adding native apps if there's a demand.
Adam York
Congrats on the launch, Dave! Hi.Events sounds like a fantastic tool for event organizers, especially with its open-source nature making it more affordable and flexible. As someone in customer support, managing and tracking our event registrations smoothly is crucial. Hi.Events' intuitive check-in tools and versatile promo codes could make my job easier. Question - how does Hi.Events handle data privacy and security for attendees? Looking forward to checking it out!
Dave Earley
@adamyork Thanks so much for the support! We took great care to ensure attendee data is secure by following all security and privacy best practices. We'll also be introducing additional security features such as 2FA soon to make the admin area even more secure.
Dan Robins
Looks like a neat product - love that it's open-source. Best of luck with the launch!
Dave Earley
Thanks for checking it out @dan_robins!

This open-source event management platform sounds like a game-changer for anyone looking to manage events without the burden of high service fees. Excited to see how it empowers users to take full control of their events and data.
Dave Earley
Thanks @hakz! Reducing fees for event organizers is one of our main goals.
Max Mikhaylovskii
Hey Hi.Events team, I must say, your product looks seriously cool. From one techie to another, I know how tough it is to produce a quality product like this. The fact that you're offering an open-source alternative that gives the control back to the users, huge kudos for that. πŸ™Œ Also, who wouldn't appreciate saving some extra cash on service fees, right? I can already see event organizers throwing a mini party with the amount saved! πŸ˜„ Keep up the great work guys! Would love to see where you take this.
Dave Earley
Thanks for the positivity @max_mikhaylovskii 😁 πŸš€
Tony Han
This is pretty cool, I see lots of great features similar to Luma, eventbrite and the bunch. It's so cool that you open sourced this - props to you! Congrats on launching this great event management and ticketing system @dave_earley1 and team! I think one way to promote is to build some event pages for upcoming events that you can share with the organizer (and tell them they can take it over for free).
Dave Earley
Thanks @tonyhanded! Cool suggestion :-)
Shemtov Yogi
The open-source nature provides flexibility and customization for users. Good luck team.
Dave Earley
Thanks @shemtov_yogi! We're hoping making it open source allows far more customization options than existing platforms.

Boudy de Geer
Hi Dave, Hi.Events looks like a fantastic open-source solution for event management! As someone who's organized events before, I really appreciate the focus on affordability and flexibility. I'm particularly impressed by the embeddable ticket widgets and the intuitive check-in tools. The fact that there's no need for a separate check-in app is a huge plus. I'm curious about the analytics feature. What kind of insights does it provide? Are there any plans to integrate with other analytics platforms in the future? Also, it's great to hear about the upcoming cloud-based version. Can you share any details on how this will differ from the current open-source offering? Looking forward to seeing Hi.Events grow. I've started following you on X and will definitely be keeping an eye on your progress!
Dave Earley
@boudydegeer Thanks so much for the kind words! We provide real-time insights into total sales, total tax, total service fees, unique visitor count, and total homepage views. We do plan to integrate with other analytics platforms in the future to provide even more detailed insights. In the very near future, you'll be able to easily add custom tracking snippets to event pages. As for the upcoming cloud-based version, it will offer all the features of the current open-source version but with added benefits like automatic updates, easier scalability, and enhanced support options. We're working hard to make it as robust and user-friendly as possible. Thanks for following us on X! We're excited to share more updates and features as we grow. πŸš€
