Helperbird is a browser extension featuring dyslexia-friendly fonts and rulers, as well as customizable font & background colors, overlays, text to speech, color blindness tools and more to make the web accessible for your needs!
Hey, Product Hunt! ✌️
I'm a dyslexic software engineer who personally understands the challenges faced by many with online accessibility issues. As we reach the end of Dyslexia Awareness Month, I've decided to launch my passion project Helperbird 3.0.
It's been 7 months since the previous version of Helperbird was posted, and since then, I have entirely redesigned the app to make it faster and more user-friendly, plus we've grown to over 65,000 users! Along with dozens of tweaks and improvements to our previous features, I've added 7 new features and 3 brand new, robust apps within the extension (Notes, Dictionary, Speech to Text).

Robert James - 🍀
Hello! I got an in depth look at the app while making the Helperbird videos. It’s such a flexible tool and Robert James has a great vision for making the web accessible for all! As an editor, I'm conscious of eye-strain and personally use Helperbird to change websites from being too “bright” with the Overlay feature.
Both I and my daughter have issues with dyslexia for our whole lives. We have tended to keep away from the Web and Social Media because of this. Since finding and using helperbird our lives have transformed for the better. I now use the Web as normal without having to hide the fact that I was unable to see what was on the screen. I'm now in a position in my work place where I'm on an equal level with my fellow workers for the first time as my dyslexia is no longer an issue. Life for me has just become normal. Helperbird is a life changer!
Great app, from dictionary options to keeping personal notes, it is refreshingly inclusive, your IPad version due out in January next should prove very successful.
I have only just come across this product and as a Dyslexic QA in tech, it is what I need in my life! I am on my computer for at least 8 hours a day and literally just changing the font will increase my productivity in some way, Thank you for making a difference to peoples lives :-)
