Hammerspoon is a desktop automation tool for macOS. It bridges various system level APIs into a Lua scripting engine, allowing you to have powerful effects on your system by writing Lua scripts.
I replaced four different tools with Hammerspoon - it handles my window management (replacing Slate), inserting Snippets (replacing TextExpander), keeping my Mac await when necessary (replacing Caffeine), and handles various app specific scripting (replacing an overgrown AppleScript mayhem).
I sync my configuration between Macs, so that when I get a new machine it works exactly like the old one out of the box.
I used to love using autohotkey on Windows before switching to Mac but had never realized there was a Mac equivalent until now. Thanks for hunting this!
Hammerspoon is a great tool that I've used on a daily basis for years now. The main value I get from it is creating a so-called Hyper Key that allows you to assign global shortcuts to AppleScript files, window management, and much more. I wrote an article on my setup that might be useful to get started: https://kalis.me/setup-hyper-key...
Have used it for 2-3 years, LOVE IT!
It was when i switch to Mac, looking for an alternative to "AutoHotKey".
Btw, you should make a community page where we can share our config/functions :)
