HabitKit is the perfect app for anyone looking to form new habits or break old ones. With HabitKit, you can track your progress with beautiful tile-based grid charts and draw motivation from growing the amount of colored tiles on your dashboard.
Hey Product Hunters 👋
I'm Sebastian, the maker of HabitKit. After pushing multiple updates since the App Store launch and polishing the current version, I finally found the confidence to launch on Product Hunt.
HabitKit is a habit tracker for iOS and Android and helps you to build new habits and visualizes your progress in a cool tile-based grid:
➕ Create new habits and track your progress
🟪 Beautiful tile-based grid visualization
🎨 Customize with colors, icons and themes
📅 Searchable calendar
📦 Data import/export to JSON
⏰ Reminders and notifications
📱 iOS home screen widgets
I also have lots of new features planned for the future and I will release frequent content updates and bugfixes. Would love to hear your feedback and hope that you'll check it out!
Thank you! ❤️
Hey there! Congrats on the launch on the Product Hunt! 🎉
I love colors and tile-based grid visualization.
One question which comes to my mind is
How do you manage texts of push notifications for different habits? Is it every time the same text or do you use different ones for different habits?
@denis_galka Thank you very much for your support, Denis!
What I do regarding the notifications: When a user adds a reminder for a habit, I schedule a reoccuring notification with the specific name of the habit. When the user changes the name of the habit, I reschedule that notification with the new name 🙂
@sebastianroehl For example, a user wants to give up masturbating and he or she doesn't want other people accidentally see a push notification with this word in the header. Maybe the user will prefer to see not-so-direct text on their phone display.
Congratulations on the launch! I'm excited to try out HabitKit and see all the cool tile-based grid charts! Are there any specific features you're most proud of?
@heyumarkhan Thank you for your support! I'm probably the most proud about the design of the app. Had to do a ton of iterations to finally arrive at a design that I like 🙂
As for me I found to have "GitHub-streak"-style visually clear for most of the people who try to deal with repetitive tasks.
Hope to see some kind of statistics for tasks and habits and also cloud Sync option and MacOS version.
Keep doing, friend!
@asaskevich Thanks for the kind words and your awesome feedback! I have a lot new features and improvements planned for the future and will try to incorporate your points 🙌
@vignesh_vaidyanathan Thank you for the kind words, Vignesh! I'm definitely planning on doing something in this direction. One of the most requested feature is the ability to add mutliple completions for a single day (for example "brush teeth 3 times a day"). Lots of cool new stuff planned! 🙌
Great work on launching such an intuitive app, on both platforms right away 👏
Out of curiosity, what was the codebase you went with? Is it native for iOS and Android?
I’d love to see an area to archive past successes, to maintain those streak achievements once you’re ‘done’ with a habit. Perhaps like a month/year in review, comparing % days completion, most productive days, number of habits etc. It could be particularly powerful for your marketing efforts to compare those headline stats to the average Joe for an added dopamine boost & sharing.
Other than that, can’t wait to give this a bash in the weeks & months ahead! Congrats again 🤩
@david_west Thank you very much for your kind words, David! Really appreciate your thoughtful comment 🙂
I actually built this project with Flutter, a cross-platform framework. The only time I had to touch native code was when I implemented the iOS home screen widget.
I have a lot of cool new features and improvements planned and some kind of statistics like you're describing is definitely on the roadmap. Thanks for the great feedback! ❤️
Excited to try this out, Sebastian! I've tried a handful of habit-tracking apps but always end up devolving back to Google sheets. Hopefully this is the one that breaks that cycle :)
Congrats on the launch! 🚀 Been using the app for a few days now and absolutely love it. Easy to use and it does what you expect, it's not trying to do lots of things like other apps in this category
@sebastianroehl, congratulation on your launch! The app's immersive design is so appealing! How do you plan to evolve the app from a features perspective? It looks like you have a lot of space for building analytics and other cool things.
@nikita_abrosimov1 Hey Nikita, thank you very much for your kind words. The next big feature that will come soon to the app are the following:
- Option to generate a cool looking image to share your progress on social media
- More and better looking icons
- A statistics page with some cool graphs and charts
That's about it for the near future, but I've got a lot more cool things in my backlog 🙂
Thanks for your support ❤️
Congrats, a nice utility. I liked a lot.
The animation speeds can be improved. I feel like it's about to crash but just a slight delay of page transition animation cause this perception.
Also the button sizing seems smaller to me. İt might be related with the font weight selection too.
A nice app, hope to see that you'll have lots of users.
@mresyilmaz Thank you for your support and valueable feedback! I'll be definitely working on improving the performance of the app and adjusting the UI scaling. I built it with Flutter and sometimes there are well-known issues for iOS devices. But I'm sure that I will figure it out!
Thanks again for your great input!
Remember you building this on Twitter, had tried it when it first came on store.
Needed something like this, being used to github like tracking. Thanks for making this!
A great app to track your daily progress. I always wanted to see my progress like GitHub activities heat map but never found any app that was doing it. Thanks Sebastian for creating such a great app! Love it!
It's not often that I start using a new app and it sticks.
I've been using HabitKit for over 2 months now and it's the best app I've found to track my habits.
Simple and nice looking app. Perfect for my needs! 👌
Congrats on your launch! I really like your Github inspired overview, and how simple the app is to use. 🙌
Any plans to define a custom streak schedule in the future?
For instance, if you want to work out on specific days, five times a week.
@pactode Hey Morten, thank you for your support! ❤️
Adding the ability to define specific days for the streak goal is definitely in my backlog and I will tackle this soon 🙌
@george_li3 Hey George, thank you so much for trying it out! Glad that you enjoy it 🙂
I have big plans for the future and some kind of summary reports or statistics feature is definitely planned! Thanks for your support! 🙂
