I like the idea of recruiting freelancers all within Slack - how does the AI element come into it? @esoelzer @amplicity
James Diecidue
@esoelzer @abadesi Great question! We've laid down all the feedback elements so that Gratify learns from its users. What makes a successful working relationship? What do clients mean when they ask for "xyz"? Gratify collects information like this to become more refined in its matchmaking and responses over time. What's most apparent today is our addition of AAI (Assisted AI). Our human operations team (www.gratify.ai/about) behind Gratify can respond to requests that our bot cannot. Price change requests? Disputes? Sticky issues between clients and freelancers that require mediation? AAI helps us fill in the gaps while our AI components take time to learn from our users.

This seems really interesting. As we are looking to embrace a more remote/distributed and team on demand structure, using Slack makes it all the more easier. I'd also like to know where the AI stuff comes into play?
James Diecidue
@qadir5000 Thanks for peeping! Check out the reply above! We use two components of intelligence in Gratify: AI and AAI. Our AAI implementation is most apparent to users today because of Gratify's ability to retain and understand context more accurately than NLP services. AI feedback mechanisms have been laid out through Gratify's infrastructure to recommend better matches and respond to stickier use cases without human intervention. Let's say you're chatting with a matched freelancer and you disagree on work compensation. You and the freelancer eventually end your agreement and you'd like to find a replacement. Gratify will remember all that's been agreed to (even informally, through chat) and can intervene as a mediation mechanism if requested, as well as search for new freelancers and update your job information automatically merely from the conversation that was had between you and the freelancer. Both AI and AAI help power use cases like these.

I really like the idea! Will it be available for European freelancers as well?
Eric Soelzer
@tobiaskossmann We're working on that! Just need to bolster the GDPR stuff first. :)
James Diecidue
@tobiaskossmann @esoelzer As of current, Gratify (as a client) is available worldwide. Freelancing is restricted to the US.
Tobias Kossmann
@esoelzer @amplicity thank you guys! Looking forward to sending my application out to you as soon as it's available. Great job!

@tobiaskossmann @esoelzer +1 for European Freelancers (at least the UK ;)) I've subscribed, so please let us know when you start accepting EU freelancers!

You have an immediate access to hundreds of vetted experts by simply typing "new task" - and that's priceless when you need a job done, but don't have specific expertise or your local team is busy. I've tried to use Upwork and Fiverr for outsourcing small tasks before, but there's nothing to compare with Gratify, which just saves a lot of time and nerves

Pros:

It is extremely simple and friendly compared to peers

Cons:

If you don't use Slack at all - that might be the only "con"

If you are using Slack, you gotta be on Gratify. Easiest way to offload tasks to real experts.

Thanks to Chris Messina for hunting! Our team and service has come a long way since our beta launch ~1 year ago. We have finally opened invitations for all to join! Gratify was created out of a working relationship I developed with a freelancer while working on another project. Our entire relationship was in Slack, but we were building amazing stuff. I wanted to recruit more resources without leaving Slack, but a solution didn't exist. This is when we built Gratify. The freelancer I worked with who inspired the idea (Ihor Rusinko) is now our technical co-founder in our distributed team of five. Gratify allows anyone to discover quality experts and build distributed teams seamlessly through Slack, without obligation. If you're an entrepreneur, a Slack user, or just a busy person...Gratify can help you unload and delegate work to pre-vetted experts on-the-fly. If you'd like to apply to freelance on Gratify, check out www.gratify.ai/work (US only). If you'd like to install Gratify into your Slack and find experts, check out www.gratify.ai.

Congrats James and Eric on the launch. Would love to see Gratify on Stride soon :)

Hey Guys - this is a really cool concept! I come from a content creation/management background and I know how needed this is. Do you have some sort of rating system or way for clients to vet the freelancer? Can they pass on a job with you, or you with them?
James Diecidue
@lili_katz Yes! We have an internal feedback system. Our freelancers are pre-vetted and applications are limited (we only accept experts in their respective skillsets). Pricing and matching is completely up to the client and freelancer, we stay out of the way. Freelancers who express interest in the task are able to negotiate and chat with the client (one at a time). The client/freelancer can pass on one another, but we only show one applicant at a time to the client to keep pricing and opportunity fair (instead of the typical "race to the bottom"). We also have public (web-based) profiles coming soon that will showcase the freelancer's previous work, testimonials, and other pertinent information.
