Am I the only one who doesn't like the default voice on headspace? Something about that Cockney-ish accent.... Great design though.
sam
@evankimbrell I actually find the cockney-ish of it all to be soothing.
Akber Malik
@evankimbrell check out Calm if you haven't already. "Andy's" voice just became something more distracting than helpful for me. Also, check out Insight Timer. Calm, Insight Timer, Zazn, UCLA mindfulness center and plenty more offer a lot for free, and minus Andy
Charlie Coppinger
@akber4747 you really don't like Andy, huh? ๐Ÿ˜ž
Marat
@evankimbrell My girl refused to use just because of the voice. I personally didn't find it annoying, but considering what a huge part of meditation it is the app should have multiple voices to choose from. GPS apps do it & it's actually more important for an app like this.

@evankimbrell everyone has their own likes & dislikes when it comes to voices. Personally I struggle to listen to a lot of the guided meditations with the floaty female Californian accents. I can't help but mention that Andy doesn't actually have a cockney accent at all. He's got a mild, southern British accent if you ask me. For reference - cockneys sound more like this: https://youtu.be/1WvIwkL8oLc

I love this! Just wanted to know if there is any record of the time I spent meditating or a feature to check the progress?

I've been using Headspace every day for the past couple of weeks. It's hands down become one of the best parts of my day.

LOVE the re-worked app Headspace team! So great to have multiple packs running side by side, some new content for the kids and more. I encountered a couple of crashes in the first wee while, which I'm sure you'll patch quickly enough. Great work and thanks for keeping me on track and balanced in my life and work. p.s. if people haven't done the Creativity Pack - I would strongly recommend you find your way there now!

Wow! Very excited about this one. Been using Headspace for a couple years now and the new updates are just what I needed! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I only went in for a quick 5 minutes session and I found it very soothing, so much that I nearly slept in the middle of the day. The voice over is very strong and in some ways better than Simple Habit. It does also have a great selection of content and as you might have guessed is getting into my shortlist.

Pros:

Very easy to use, great selection of content & a very soothing yet strong voice.

Cons:

Haven't got any yet.

My kids love listens get to Andy at sleep time now, they also love substituting his words to say goodnight to their various private parts instead,

OMG - YES - FINALLY - the ability to do multiple packs at once without resetting your progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was looking forward to trying this after reading @tferris ToT book. No better time than after a fresh update!
Jordan Melnick
I dig the new UI and the ability to progress through multiple packs without losing your place was top of my feature request list ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ™

I'm a recent Headspace user and it's been really useful and calming, especially when work gets stressful and I need a way to just have a few moments to relax. The option of a 3-minute session is great because it gives me a way to feel calm while barely taking work time away. Highly recommended. Great job on this app guys!

For those of you who want to become their best selves, Headspace is a fantastic intro to the world of meditation. Andy is a great guide and I've improved so much at work and home thanks to being more mindful throughout my day. Would highly recommend for people who want to live 'optimally'.

If you're the kind of person who needs more extrinsic motivation, this may not be for you as the 'hook' to continue daily meditation is more nuanced and self-actualized.

Pros:

Approachable and effective introduction to mindfulness and meditation.

Cons:

Intrinsic motivation requires lots of self-discipline.

any links to independent evidence that any of this is highly effective? or just lotta hype and placebos?

Just downloaded it - my first meditation app! (Though I'm not new to meditation). What clinched it for me was the ability to choose different categories of things I want to work on. Genius!
Marta Denkiewicz
Great example of using behaviour change techniques in the UI of health apps. The app prompts the user to associate new meditation habit with an existing habit (e.g. brushing teeth in the morning), making sure it works with their existing routine.

Rellay like your design and the Apple Watch compatibility! Good luck! I've made a pretty similar app focussing on breathing techniques. You can check it out on my profile if you want to! :D

What an incredible company using the powers of technology to harness the best of humanity - our ability to be still, calm, spacious and aware.

Pros:

Time Well Spent!

Cons:

Can become a crutch.

I really loved the first version of Headspace, but this one is even better. Cool design, easy to use, helps to sooth my mind at any time. Thanks!

I used headspace for a while and to its credit i learned to meditate with it but I left for insight timer which is more dharma focused, free and doesn't claim to be able to help with everything that ails you
