Passkeys are a more convenient and safer alternative to passwords. They work on all major platforms and browsers, allowing users to sign in by unlocking their computer or mobile device with their fingerprint, face recognition, or a local PIN.
The end of passwords is near 👀
Google released Passkeys, a simpler and safer alternative to passwords, straight from your Google account. Who's tried it yet?
This is really interesting. I've been seeing many auth providers shift away from password flows, moving toward magic links, MFA, OTP, etc. Also, many products do this as well—Linear and Vercel are two notable examples. Now Google is hopping on that trend too! We'll definitely be seeing fewer and fewer auth flows with email + password in the next few years.
