@josh_russ1 How long before Google figures out the copy wasn't written by a human?
Don't get me wrong, I think everyone is going to have to figure out how to work with the new tools. Right now the tech is able to write passable text for SEO purposes, but it needs a fair bit of guidance to write good marketing material.
If the tools don't improve, Google may begin to downgrade results for pages it thinks were written by them. Not a certainty, but something to look out for.
@mike_webster1 Hard to say for sure but the technology is pretty amazing. And space is getting more popular. Not saying it can replace all content writers but is super helpful as a writing assistant.
@josh_russ1 Agreed, it is helpful as an assistant. And it will probably get better over time. But we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that it is the prompts and the curating of ideas (the human's job) that, at least for now, determines the usefulness of the output to readers.
If you are not being thoughtful of what you are giving the tool as a prompt or the quality of the output before posting it to a site, Google will eventually determine the content is not providing much value.
I don't know if you remember what content spinners were, but before the Google algorithm was very sophisticated they produced a bunch of "content spam", basically useless websites meant to trick the search engines to get better rankings. Once Google caught on, sites that used those tools went from having loads of traffic to none.
