Developers often keep their fingers on the pulse of the tech world through a variety of channels. One of the most common ways is by staying active on online forums and communities like Stack Overflow, GitHub, and Reddit. These platforms are treasure troves of information, where developers share their insights, discoveries, and recommendations. Additionally, they follow tech blogs, newsletters, and YouTube channels, which provide regular updates on new tools and services. Social media platforms like Twitter are also bustling with developers sharing exciting finds and engaging in discussions. Many developers attend tech conferences and meetups, where they can network and gain firsthand knowledge about emerging tools and services. The bottom line is that staying connected and curious in the digital realm is key to discovering the latest and greatest in the developer's toolkit.

Newsletters/Substacks are a great place to get information and find out what's new. Some of the best ones I follow are https://refactoring.fm, https://newsletter.pragmaticengi... and https://saasengineering.substack...

@akshatj_dev @oxana_ivanova great suggestions! for the record, you may find more developer-focused newsletter recos in this Discussion, too.

I think it really depends on what you are interested in. I suggest making a list of the tech stack that you are planning to use and join the communities/discords of those. For example, for Shopify App development I joined the shopify dev discord + those of other companies that help streamline the process. Also, Twitter is great, you really get the latest. Here I suggest following indie developers as well as companies. The algo will then push a lot of similar profiles and content.

@filippo_pietrantonio this sounds really great, not sure why I didn't think about discord and twitter. Thanks for the advice!

@oxana_ivanova hi Oxana 👋 FWIW I recently created a GitHub repo that lists great places to discover developer-first products/tools. This includes publications (medium, dev.to...), podcasts, subreddits, communities, and sites (HN, PH...). I poured months into it, so I genuinely thought it would help. oh and it's open-source -- feel free to contribute :)
