What tools do you use to track competitor SEO strategies?

I want to understand my competitors' SEO strategies better. What tools do you use to analyze competitors and improve your own rankings? I've tried Ahrefs & SEM Rush in the past but is there anything that you have used that has helped you more?

I would like to find some tool to see not only the backlinks of a website, but the history of when these links were got. This will be very useful to understand their marketing strategy and journey to date.
SimilarWeb, Searchmetrics, Gstat can be helpful also.

@johnberg how do you use them? sorry if this is a naive question.
@ashitvora SimilarWeb is great for getting insights about estimated organic and ad traffic as well as market share. SearchMetrics is great to discover the keyword gaps. GetStat is amazing for tracking keyword performances & market shares.

I used to use SEMrush, then switched to Ahrefs. Honestly, I haven't found anything better so far.
