What should we do if the process is right, but the outcome is wrong?

Yesterday, I had a chat with some friends who work on AI products. One of them mentioned that many successful products aren't designed meticulously from the start. Instead, the key to success nowadays lies in quickly building the product, iterating rapidly, and learning through trial and error, rather than spending a lot of time and effort on research. What do you think about this approach?
