What community-building tool to use?

There are many websites I want to build in the future and all of them have in common an essential component. A discussion space that is moderated and probably groups within the community. I have been looking at Circle.so, Mighty Networks and similar. If you are using one of those please share your experience here. I also what to know what this discussion space is...under the hood.
