What are your criteria when you upvote for products? 🔼
Without the fact that someone asks me to upvote, I usually give my votes in these situations:
– I need to like the product.
– It has to be valuable in my process (e.g. video creation), or related to my hobbies or niché.
– I usually upvote without being asked in that situation. (Indeed, some products that "don't ask me" to pay them attention, get my attention.)
How do you approach the upvoting system?

@emily_willis1 Good additional point – I am more likely to trust the product (even to buy) when I have trust in it (videos and showing the face of a founder helps a lot). Thank you that you pointed this out.
when someone hits me on linkedin with an ego-inflating msg: "you're a thought leader on PH, and your support would mean so much for us..." I mean, damn how can I possibly not support them lol?
@ag94 :DDDDD I think that someone created a template for this (probably ChatGPT) and it is a widely used phrase.

I'm really driven by the Relationship with the founder(s). If I know them on X, and they're looking for upvotes, I usually do it.
@artyom_zhuravlev yes, this is the very first thing that should "invite you" to click on the PH launch page. I just didn't think about that when was writing this. Thank you for mentioning it, Artyom. :)
@busmark_w_nika It depends on what problem the product is solving. How uniquely it is represented.
To be honest, I only consider products for Upvoting which:
1) I understand the use case
2) Is in my domain (education)
3) Relevant for my daily use professionally and personally
What gets my Upvote is the care taken to project the product to the stakeholders which includes the PH community.

It's important for me to see that the team was ready for the launch and was able to clearly explain their product.
Because there is no desire to vote for a team that is not even willing to spend time presenting their product to the community.
If these products are useful and practical to me, I generally tend to upvote for them.
For me, key criteria are: 1) Is it solving a real problem in a novel way? 2) How polished and user-friendly is the UX/UI? 3) Do the founders seem passionate and committed to their vision? 4) Is there strong potential for growth? If a product checks those boxes, it earns my upvote! đź‘Ť
personally, I simply upvote products that fit one of the below criteria:
- i find it beautiful
- i found it useful for myself
- i think they could be useful for others
- even when product are in alpha version or feel clumsy, if i like the idea behind the product and it is worth to keep developing the product, i support them to give feedbacks to the makers that, from my pov, they are on the good way to do something wonderful
in essence, all the products that make life better and that deserve to be spread :)
