New to PH launch and have a question if anybody can help me understand this.

My team launched "ThreadMagic" today, and we are in the top 5 but keep flipping between #3 and #4. The product ranking higher than ours has fewer votes and engagement than ours. Can anybody help me understand how the ranking criteria really work? I thought it was only about upvotes.

The ranking algorithm is a secret, mentioned in the official doc: https://www.producthunt.com/launch. upvote is just one of the factors(e.g. comments can also be a factor)
