Have you noticed this change in the Product Hunt discussions?
You can create a post under the specific categories.
It seems, that Product Hunt is testing these options.
Which one do you like the most?
What would you add/replace/remove?
Keep the feedback coming! Here's a bit more about what we were thinking:
p/product-recommendations was our attempt to highlight discussions about products - e.g. "can anyone recommend an alternative to X? What are people using for Y? Asana vs. Linear...."
p/self-promotion is a little tongue-in-cheek, but was meant to be a place where you can announce your launch, get support, connect on linkedin, etc. We're here to help each other and share our startups - I wanted to create a dedicated subforum for that.
p/introduce-yourself is meant to be a starting point for new forum members - we'll keep an eye on it to see if maybe we should fold it into another forum.
p/ama is now limited to official AMAs - and you can see the best of our AMAs going back nearly a decade!
Finally, p/general is designed to be the main forum - a place where we can ask questions, get help from the community, and share insights we've learned.
@rajiv_ayyangar Thank you for explaining these categories. When it comes to Forums, I witnessed one thing: With longer text, the button for Submitting is hidden. 🙈
95% or so is in General, so it doesn't really make sense. Would need more categories, and it should be necessary to select a specific category for each post.
I like the self-promotion and product recommendation categories. However, 'Introduce Yourself' and 'General' feel similar to me. I’d prefer replacing 'Introduce Yourself' with 'General'. People can introduce in general category too. :)
When you are creating discussion, there is space for:
– Title
– Text
– The category from drop down menu you want to use for listing the discussion. (after that, you can filter discussions according those categories)
